Not gonna lie I miss Jason being a part of this.. but this I think was the closest to the same kind of chemistry and vibe to old MR… do more like this!
@AlexKeyes29912 күн бұрын
They never were going anywhere. Why you think that their veiws went down the shitter. Jason probably didn't wanna upload every 6 months and actually wanted content out I bet but it looks like lazy fuck over here got too happy with releasing a video SEMI ANNUALLY.

Wait, that's all? I want more! Holy moly that was 36min long, i could have sworn that video is just about 10 minutes long.

Brandt is such a great educator. (and editor!) I was absolutely not intending to watch the entire episode immediately, in one sitting. But the hook of it grabbed me and the presentation was so well done that I just never wanted to stop. I am now quite late for dinner! 100% my favorite Modern Rogue episode since Jason left.

Magic Eye-ifying the "spot the differences" puzzles is a great trick 😅
@inthefade5 күн бұрын
Ever since I was a kid and I learned how stereograms work I've been doing this trick. I've freaked people out by discerning subtle differences in what look like identical images. I'm a visual artist too so I just let them think I'm a genius.

Brandt would make an amazing teacher. When I first started I felt like I was just opening up Ms paint that made sounds. I believe the first program I used was a midi synth of some type. I would just make the goofiest stuff ever.

That hiding business is how the transmit stereo audio over FM. They transmit (L+R)/2 and (L-R)/2. They do this to be backwards compatible with mono-channel radios. And when the quality of the signal degrades, they make sure that the mono-channel is the last thing to go. But Brandt was hiding his message in (L-R)/2.

Something cool you can do with sound inversion is take some continuous audio, like a song, mix it as mono except still keep two stereo channels, invert either the left or right channel. Then add another piece of audio into it except make it really quiet so you can't hear it over the music. If you export that, it'll play as is. If you then force your audio setup to play sound as mono, you won't hear the music and only the quieter additional track. Edit - Note to self: Never make a comment on a video till you've watched the whole video first... (I made this comment some time after Brian first saw the inversion effect)

I would have loved to see the first 4 minutes of this come out a week ago, or yesterday, or at the same time but as a separate video ... maybe with some extra explanations / gamification Still record it all at once though, that way the audience can "participate" but Brian doesn't have to worry about avoiding spoilers. It would have been fun to compare and contrast my attempts to what Brian does

When I was a kid I realized I could cancel out the Left and Right channels from my headphones by shorting the plug (only having it partially plugged in) Was always fun to see a favorite song isolated down to just the diffs between channels
@KarstenJohansson28 күн бұрын
It's how I used to make jam tracks. If you reverse + and - for one of the two stereo channels, and then play them as mono, anything in the center gets cancelled out. That is typically lead vocals and lead guitar, while everything else tends to be panned around and therefore not cancelled out. It's an interesting way to hear instruments that are buried real deep in the mix, too.

So why do I watch these videos instantly when I put all the other videos on my "watch later" list? Because the info from these are things I can use right away. I would love to know how to be a gentleman that orders his drinks in the most suave way, but the last time I went to a bar was before covid. However making fun cryptograms for the kids/dnd players/cooky friends I have in my life is something I can start tonight and finish tomorrow. I love this and just wish Utube had notified me the day of like it claims to, but it says this was made available 5 days ago.

You don’t hear with the “hairs” in your ears! You hear with the tympanic membrane, aka the ear drum.
@ModernRogue23 күн бұрын
Per Chatty G: “The tiny hairs in your ears, called *stereocilia*, play a crucial role in hearing. They’re located in the cochlea, a fluid-filled part of the inner ear. When sound waves enter the ear, they create vibrations that cause the fluid in the cochlea to ripple. This movement bends the stereocilia, which are attached to hair cells. As these hair cells bend, they trigger an electrical signal that’s sent to the brain via the auditory nerve. The brain then interprets these signals as sound. Damage to these hair cells, often from loud noise exposure or aging, can lead to hearing loss, as these cells don’t regenerate. **Truth Confidence: 10/10**”
