My dad just recently bought one, once it was installed the guy installing it said we should be good to go yet most of the rooms are not receiving a good enough signal, my question was does it take a few days for this to sort it self out, or could there be a bigger problem.

No, wireless won't get better over time. If there is more than around 1 and a bit walls (e.g. two thin internal walls or one previously external wall (so thick)) then WiFi just won't go that far. It's a limitation of the technology and not usually a problem with the router or ISP. If the house is vaguely large or the router is right on the edge of the house then a decent Wireless Mesh system is a good idea. Something like the Tp-Link Deco or Mercusys stuff.

I have the same router but have forgotten the access key, can't sign in for the settings. I did reset it twice but nothing goes back to the factory settings. The default Access Key doesn't work, I must have changed it.

Try Administrator or Admin or SuperUser (capitals on the username are important in these routers) What ISP originally provided the router?
