I am not techo minded in the least but having my daughters MacBook Air decided to sell mine so had to try & delete all info on the lap top. I looked on KZbin for advice, saw a few videos which I couldn't understand or follow in the slightest. I came across yours & have to say it was the easiest instructions ever. THANKS!👍🏻 No bullshit. I got a 2012 MacBook Pro with unknown password AND Appleid. I had taken it to a shop for a factory reset, couldn’t do it without the Apple ID. Looked at a couple of other videos that were just trying to steer me to Instagram to pay for advice. I had almost given up when I found this. Did the simple erase and reset, currently installing updates to High Sierra. Also went in and EASILY removed the password. (I know HS is unsupported but I’m good with that right now. ) This IS legit and THANKS!

First tutorial I've seen on KZbin where it spoke of how an Apple ID wasn't required (in cases where personal files won't be saved). Up until watching this video I thought there was no way to reinstall Mac OS without the Apple ID.

Old thread, but hoping someone can assist. Unfortunately I only have a windows keyboard. Mapping is set to control key by default, but when used control+r at the beginning, it’s not opening a menu….it just starts the os.suggestions ?

@@AaronStarkman Did a quick search and found this solution from another person: my new mac mini I got today I was able to boot to internet recovery by holding the windows key + r while pressing the power button. I installed a new hard drive and didn't have a mac keyboard available. I read someones post above and took another shot at windows key + r and it worked. Reinstalling lion as I type this on my Windows machine. Good look to the OP. Hope this helps 🌞🌞🌞

It worked well till the middle but than it asked me Apple ID, I used the one I am using for my iPhone. It said this ID is only available in UAE, now I am in UK. What to do please advise? Awesome video. I wanted to clean up, and reset my 2018 Macbook Air 13", in order to sell it. This video provided the basics of what I needed to do to accomplish that. There were a few steps that were unique to my device, that I had to figure out on my own, but after watching this video several times, before trying this, I was able to figure out the in between steps, while pausing this video, to get to the next phase of your video, to get it done. There are few things that could make the video shorter for example; directing viewers to the red button, if viewers are not familiar with how to close dialogue windows they should not view and or attempt these steps and any viewers already familiar with and or utilizing encryption options probably do not need this video. Overall, for the average Mac Os user who wants to override forgotten login and erase old useless files this is a GREAT TUTORIAL on how to "kill 2 birds with 1 stone!!" Thanks again

The options for me are Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (Journaled Encrypted ) (Case - sensitive, Journaled) (Case -sensitive, Journaled, Encrypted) ExFat and MS-Dos (Fat). The reason why it does that is because your Mac is out of date. It has to be a 2017 or older Mac I think. In order for it to work you have to get a new startup disk and hard drive. Hope this helped
