Finally channel focus on training soft ukemi falls, i been struggling my who life to improve my ukemi for many years, non of our member in my small town knows how to do soft breakfalls. All we does is hard hitting tobi ukemi, thanks for sharing. Love from malaysia, wish i can attend your workshop.

Good question, why do you slam the floor with your hand. Does that remove the impact of the fall or is it just for style

You are right, the purpose of the slamming the floor is to remove force from the impact. With the slam you create a counterforce which neutralises a part of the impact.

For me it creates no difference while doing drills like this. But when I'm being thrown in actual sparring it makes a huge difference... really hurts without the slapping
