Idk man, You Ting Hard Mode worked wonders for me and it didn’t take long at all, at least in Vanilla DW3. Even got lvl 20 Elixir and lvl 19 Reach there pretty quickly. Every thing is either maxed or one away from maxed after a 2-3 hours grinding spread across two days or so. Though I did get lvl 40 Tortoise Amulet randomly from Wu Zhang Plains normal difficulty on completing Huang Zhong’s story mode (though You Ting gave me lvl 38 before that). Go figure

The trick for me was to leave the three item boxes til I cleared the map (and collected the 3 boxes from generals). Then, I’d save the game near the first item crate. Load save, collect items, then finish Sima Yi. Basically similar to Yi Ling method on DW4. Level is short and there is an efficient route to kill all generals pretty fast.

Of course, if you don’t like items, reload the save. Rinse and repeat. With some patience, the good items will come

Yes! Defense is the most important thing ever in a Warriors/Musou game. Tortoise Amulet and the Shield armor for the bow def.

weird method, the item quality depends on your combo score when you pick it up, just doing one perfect combo isn't enough...

the way you phrased it on the description... sounds as if in each stage you can only find a set of predetermined items like for example Tortoise Amulet can be one of the items in Siege of HeFei but it will never appear in Wu Zhang Plains O.o is that right?
