recently I had a lot of success feeding with uncooked pure oatmeal flakes. Shrimp seem to go absolutely nuts for it, and it seems to greatly promote microfauna as well.

Nice video, powered food is really good. I like to use a long paintbrush to dip in the food and tap off, it really helps with portion control.

I use a mortar and pestle to grind up algae wafers and crustacean pellets into a fine powder and put it into the water flow and around the filters. Have had very good results in feeding larger tanks of bristle noses this way as in encourages natural foraging

Its hard to say without knowing how copentant you are at making water, in general in a neo tank 10 -20% in normal, if you really know what your doing it can go upto like 50%

My powder, my tetra, flake food in my blender, put it back in the container. It came in and take my smallest bottle of tetra food. That’s empty and fill it up halfway because keeping it the rest of it in the freezer really helps for it to not go bad.

Good morning Mark! Awesome video great content. So do the Taiwan bees and the crystal shrimp eat less. Is that way it can be dangerous to use this in those tanks.
@MarksShrimpTanks Жыл бұрын
I think they eat less because they are always grazing on the substrates which is a soil so.

@MarksShrimpTanks9 ай бұрын
yeah age the water, let it sit in a container like a bucket in the same room as the tank for like a day before you use it, I do this and I do big neo water changes sometimes like 50% and I have thousands of them just in one tank.

How many times in a week can i give them powder food? My fear is ammonia spike.
@MarksShrimpTanks Жыл бұрын
depends on the amount of shrimp you have and you have to gauge this for yourself.

I notice that your glass feeding bowl have your logo on them. Are they part of some merch store?
@MarksShrimpTanks Жыл бұрын
They used to be in my store but were a little too expensive to make; I couldn't sell a product for nearly 10 bucks that cost less than 1 to buy, so I scrapped their production.

I crush up algae tablets since the cherries and amanos like it (even the babies) though that food is mainly for my vampire shrimp.. As for the main food I just give them shrimp food which is absolutely miniscule, just picking up one piece is almost impossible but theyre also quite squishy and the baby shrimp seem to nibble on the pieces since they're not too difficult to break.

I never breed shrimp but I've had shrimp in my aquariums. I recently just cleaned out a 100 liters I got. Found way above 100+ cherries and they were all beautiful. They come from a group of 10 I bought 3 years ago. They look real high quality now. I don't really feed them specifically. However I have a group of Corydoras in the tanks so they usually eat that. And bloodworms.

How about yeast? I feed daphnia with yeast, then add the daphnia (in their water) to a fish and shrimp tank. Everything seems fine, water is clear, shrimps and plants are growing well, but currently I'm very sparing with this feed. Would you expect fry and adult shrimps to be efficient at filtering out yeast?
@MarksShrimpTanks28 күн бұрын
yes yeast is good, its in a lot of powdered shrimp foods.

I dont like them unless you have hundreds of shrimp in a tank because its too much food.

Try Tima Basic pasta. It is great for all shrimps. Put a bit as big as a pea off this paste on the front window and see the effect on all shrimps. They all will run to the food.

The problem with most paste foods is they are made with grease, which I dont think is a good thing to add to a tank.

Ahhh...that dreaded "tickle" in the throat. My mom would get them...A LOT ! She found the cure though. Every time she got a tickle, she'd pour a shot of Sambuca 🍹{ Amazing how "home remedies" work.} On that shrimp food for babies, I do the same thing with flakes and pollen....but also add in Astaxanthin powder. Another good food source i tried out is powdered eggs....that was given once a week. Every now and then i switched out with powdered beet, zucchini, and carrots. I figured, since i can't see if they like it or not, i'll just put in a variety of sources, just in small amounts to keep the water clean. This type of feeding though must be done in an aquarium that is full with a variety of bio activity. As in nature, we all need help for digestion from our micro breateren 😀

I would have thought all the biofilm from algae on glass and all other surfaces would have been more than enough as a food source for baby shrimp in addition to feeding extra shrimp food about every 3-4 days?
@MarksShrimpTanks Жыл бұрын
Normally it would be but if you want to breed more of them on mass then you have to feed more.
