Best video on KZbin. Nobody´s explain this in this platform. I would like see more examples and more songs to try to identify the different parts, like a tutorial.

Great video! Thanks a lot 🙏 I heard about Majao & Derecho first in Barcelona, never in Paris where I come from. It’s so much better to dance with those parts of the music in mind 😊

I am just getting into Latin dance and these terms I never heard of I just pick up on the energy of the music and dance accordingly my teacher told me I have natural musicality I think its because I have a hip hop dance background and feeling the music through your movement is imperative . but I loved learning these technical terms thank you !

Hey, thank you for the break down it really helpful. But I still cannot hear different between Derecho and Majao.
@jbkoo58496 ай бұрын
I suggest you to pay attention to the guira part. The metallic instrument that scratches a lot. In derecho it is mostly 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and ( 4 pairs of semi notes) !!! Luis y Andrea made smooth moves. And usually in that part it is also named caminando and you can walk, displace. In majao it is mostly 1, 2, 3, 4 ( four black notes) !!! Luis y Andrea made more intense moves. Usually that part you could dance more intimate.

It sounds like not all songs have Mambo. What I noticed is different in Mambo is that the bongo and the requinto are both running on high energy. In Majao, the bongo plays the derecho rhythm which is pretty chill but in Mambo, it seems like the requinto and the bongo are both creating the mambo energy. What do you think?

Wonderful video. Do you have any video on " how to count beats, identify the first one, dance according to the beats". thanks

Thanks, at the moment i'm not doing much video editing because i'm quite busy but a quick guide is try to recognise when the music starts introducing or removing sounds like a vocal, another type of guitar sound, etc.

@@kstdance I like the idea of how you explained the reason the moves went so well with the song. also, good ideas for videos are, how to connect to your dance partner better so you both enjoy the dance together everything from etiquette before during, and after and the lady's side of what makes dancing fun for them. also, your favorite combos specifically designed for socials

@@KolaIL All good ideas. I might be able to make those videos with the current format. The only thing is music, for us creators it's difficult to have music because we always get copyrighted and unable to monetise but don't worry, I'll find ways to include a bit of song here and there and talk about the topics you want in the next few weeks and when you watch them please give me a feedback :)

I have a question, Musicality often seems like it’s the leads responsibility to feel the music but does the follow have a part in this too? I’m sure yes but and I’m guessing through their movements too, but is that because of the lead.
@TheKuts1013 жыл бұрын
Can you make a video on how to build a connection with your partner? I have been told that even though the lead did basics the follow had the time of their life because the lead had a strong connection.

Hey buddy! This is a great question. For sure, give me some time because I need to think about this and ask people too, but this is definitely an awesome idea.

I took musicality classes, but how can a musically rich song be made with 2 instruments (conga and singer)? Excluding Dominican and a few artists, the problem with modern bachata is there are not big bands of the past and many composers are not familiar with guitar / guiro / bass / etc. I feel it when music has little harmony, lacks of structure, has random breaks. Most of musicality classes focus on instrument, but Bachata musicians nowadays are often single persons with a computer and the voice of Romeo Santos. Hopefully things will change, your advice is very good though :)

I was really trying to listen Andrea dancing video, but I still don't really hear the difference :( I hear same bachata rythm (just with some breaks after 4x8)

you chose some pretty crappy examples. the couple barely changed there dancing for majao or mambo, their derecho movements are equally as big. look at some dominicans show you how it's done.

Also what are your thoughts when you ask a follow out to dance but she did ut out of pity and has a resting B***** face and you both arent enjoying the dance?
@kstdance3 жыл бұрын
Well if that did happen I probably won't ask the person to dance again lol. But whenever someone is like this, I try to remind myself of these things: 1. Maybe it's out of habit. Maybe she just doesn't trust people she doesn't know well so she acts that way. I actually a few people who are like this. We later became friends but because we have a mutual friend and started hanging out. 2. Maybe she's having a bad day. I've been on the giving end of this as well. I was totally preoccupied and I didn't really dance well and to her, I was probably a huge jerk to her. But at the time I just couldn't help it. I was upset by something but I didn't want to go home and do nothing lol.. In any case, I always think you should always give your best when you're dancing with someone. But you can't control others, so if that happens, I'd just smile politely and thank her, and move on.
