Even worse is when you miss the place that you just visited after going back home

Yeah, I don't remember ever being homesick (unless you count wishing for the practicality of your washing machine or a different pair of shoes), but longing for the place I went to hits me almost every time

My first trip to Europe was after college and for six weeks. And, yes, I had homesickness. But after returning home, and many years afterward, I realized that the opportunity to travel for so long helped me grow immensely, made me stronger. I would definitely encourage young people to travel internationally, especially to Europe. It would teach them how to live on their own, without their parents as a life buffer.

I'm from Montana not far from Glacier National Park and now living in the UK. I think the saying that sometimes you didn't really know what you had until it's gone rings especially true for me, lol. Great video!

I was feeling homesick in Venice yesterday. I went and ate a Big Mac at Mcdonalds. LOL. I fight homesickness with Big Mac's.

Me too! I eat way more McDonalds when travelling than at home. Sometimes you just need a break from everything being different.

I always travel abroad between 4--6 months at a time. I don't know if I get homesick, exactly. But I do miss something, anything familiar at times. My go to is a visit to a McDonalds or Starbucks, calling back home, reading an English book, and talking to Ex-Pats I meet along the way. In far off places where this isn't an option, sometimes seeing the Big Dipper in the night sky is soothing in a way (of course, just north of the equator). Safe Travels :)

So far I never been homesick. But the opposite is the case. Whenever I leave my favorite place in USA I miss it immediately

I miss my family, my animals when I travel., Not necessarily my actual home.

I get homesick for my husband and dog. While I can text and call my husband, I can't do that with my dog, so I try to get out in nature, somewhere where I can interact with wildlife. The tip about going to church is also super helpful. It's wonderful to meet others you share so much with even though you are from different parts of the world, and church specifically reminds me that I am part of a global family.

I have never been homesick in my life. Maybe having lived my whole life in Ohio has something to do with that 😆

I was shocked when I spent 3 weeks in Poland a few years back that I was homesick. My brain couldn’t initially pinpoint why I felt off. Great tips as always Mark thanks! I’ll be sure to keep these in mind the next time I’m gone for a while!

I joke that when you crave a hamburger in Europe it’s time to go home. The best burger I’ve ever had was in a pub in Bath.

Been homesick and I think that relaxing like you said is best. Kinda take a day or two to regroup and think how nice it is and how lucky you are to be able to travel. But not stressing about "wasting a day relaxing". Just being in a different place is an experience on it's own. Enjoy that. Even if it is just relaxing in a foreign hotel or a house. Relax, regroup and enjoy. You'll be home sooner than you think and be missing your trip! 😄

Currently studying in greece, and it hasn’t hit me yet, but I’m sure it will eventually. Very true talking about the fast paced lifestyle and wanting simplicity

Taking a day off is 100% needed, especially if you are travelling long term. My current rate is 1 day off for every 2 weeks travelled. On my day off I set rules: no sightseeing (walks around the hotel are okay), comfort food for meals, and spend most of the day watching shows/youtube/gaming. Just be sure this doesn't spiral into spending a week+ doing this.

The bottom line when going through homesickness: Do something. No matter how mundane. Live in the present. Homesickness kicks in hard when the newness and marvel of the new location fades and real life kicks in. It’s the real “now what” stage of a new life somewhere else. Doing nothing can deepen the depression hole.

In the category of doing something you do at home... I find a hair salon and go get a haircut. It feels very "everyday" even if there's a bit of fumbling with a different language.

Never homesick at once. But close call with tonga situation in 2019, when offered with temporary residence for a few years. But I refused due to the island size being too small in middle of the Pacific. It feels nowhere.

I rarely get homesick and travel as often as possible. I have gypsy roots, so I guess I've always preferred a transient way of life. Besides, it's hard to miss the USA when it's such a sh*thole. Europe is highly entertaining and feels far safer than many other parts of the world. These suggestions are nice, tho.

I've been enjoying your videos! As a beginner investor with a little budget of under $5,000, I'm excited to take the first step. Could anyone offer guidance on a reliable investment strategy for small-scale investors like myself?
