Extremely helpful and concise, well done. Pretty sure I got every leak going, so this is helpful as a useful list. I call mine the Toyota Aquarium.

Oh boy now it is my turn to perform this. Had a full pool of water in the boot.

Thanks, very useful video. I manage to insulate the ingress from the upper brake light and fromt the boot door seal. There is still some little water ingress from the stupid air vents behind the bumper, this one is more challenging.

After two years of research I have found the source of the back footwell leak. It was coming from the front glass window on my Peugeot 107. In my case was not the rubber seal around the door but the sweep trim seal on the glass. Water then used to trickle in from inside the door and fall from the base of the plastic panel right on the top of the door seal, fooling anybody and leading to think water gets in from the door rubber seal. If you have the leak and do not remove the plastic front door panel you cannot understand if it is coming from the rubber seal or the trim sweep seal glass window

just did my 9 year aygo , seals were broken and hanging out, i hope its fixed , also a good time to clean off the mud and spray with rust protection

If it turns out it's getting in through the lights, save yourself the headache I've had and just buy a new boot seal and light seals off of eBay. The tail lights are fragile and I managed to break one whilst putting it back on, leading to one unhappy girlfriend as it's her Aygo. I used E shaped draught excluder tape to make a seal for the high tail light and P shaped for the internal light gaskets as they had condensation in them. Give that a go if the silicone fails, it's a lot less messy and the tail light sponges hold water like tea bags. Hope it works out for you

Thanks for the video. My Mum has one of these bath tubs. Will fix it next time I am home if she hasn't already sold it.

Great video , thanks. I sealed the foam behind the light clusters some time ago and it wasn't a complete success. I've done the top brake light as well though I'm not sure that was necessary. With our car I think the culprits are the air vents behind the bumper. The seals were pathetic and water running down past the light cluster will run round and under the rear window then pass down and should go around the air vents but I reckon in our case it was getting in there.

So basicly, don't take your car out in the rain ☔ or if you do, don't have a bath that day because you can have one as you drive. Like a wash and go 😁 Peace ✌️ out people

How do you replace lamps when everything is glued with silicone?
@fixanddrive7 жыл бұрын
apply washing up liquid to the other surface and it won't stick :)

Great! will do all the 4 steps today.

Did you let the silicone dry first before placing the light back on? Thanks!
@fixanddrive4 жыл бұрын
No, it got dry with the light fitted so that it could form an extra seal. But apply some washer liquid to the lamp, so that the silicone doesn't stick to it.
@Yer74 жыл бұрын
Fix and Drive thanks! Does it matter what kind of washer liquid? And have you done this with the 3rd breaklight aswell?

Did you replace the vents with or without de rubber seals before you put the silicone around it?

Don't remember, I think with the rubber seals.

@@fixanddriveThanx for your quick reply, video was very helpfull. A few weeks ago i silicone my third brakelight, taillights and both vents. I still have some water in the first gutter left of the sparewheel departement. Also the rubber cap (the one most at back end) of the sparewheel departement is wet then. No traces of water were it came from.. If i push the vents i see some tiny waterbubbles around the silicone (not enough silicone perhaps?). It's only at the left side, right side is complete dry. Still any tips? Thanx for your help, cheers from Holland!

@@Lay-On In my case I fimally needed to replace the rear window seal. I fitted it with silicone and no more leaks.

At 0:31 I put the sillicone sealant over there on both sides instead of removing the rear bumper and doing the sillicone there. is that a good idea and will it help? Please let me know thank you!
@fixanddrive8 жыл бұрын
first thing you do is check carefully the rear window/tailgate seal. I believe in my case it was the main culprit.
@2210100409118 жыл бұрын
Fix and Drive I already have checked there but it doesn't come from there. I am pretty sure it comes from the vents from the rear bumper. So I sealed it from inside not removing the bumper first and then seal the vents like what you did. I don't know if that's a good idea about what I did. Thanks for your reply by the way!

I had condensation in my brake lights and my boot would get damp. On inspection I did have a pool of water in the bottom of my car surrounding the spare tyre. I took it to the garage and they changed the brake lights and the boot seal but i'm still getting condensation and now the left side is getting damp. What should i do?
@fixanddrive7 жыл бұрын
Where do u get the condensation? In the boot surrounding the spare tyre? You need to seal the air vents too, which is shown in the video.
