As someone who spent 2 months to go from 0 to Gold in Street Fighter 5 not too long ago, I really hope this video encourages people to give the genre a shot. There will always be some character who has some quality that fits you, and mastering your playstyle with that character feels very fulfilling.

As someone who hasn't enjoyed the fighting genre like never, I tried a lot of games, and MK11 was my favorite, fun and is easy for idiots like me, I do recommend try because you may find a game of that genre you really like (I have over 60 hrs on mk11 so it was worth the try of different games)

I really hope Tekken 8 has some kind of single player arcade type mode like 4 and 5, I suck at Tekken but being able to play through a mini-campaign with a story for each character was so much fun and made me never even consider I could be playing against other people.

Interesting that Them's Fightin' Herds only got a passing reference at the beginning of the sponsor. It's got a great tutorial and is an excellent way for someone new to the genre to learn the basics of fighting games.

I truly love fighting games. Even as a total casual, I can experience the true joy of repeatedly doing walk-up dragon punches. The best part, of course, being the oh so visceral reaction they give in the very moment, and getting to do so repeatedly to them within a single round.

Was thinking about buying street fighter six last night and was conflicted, taking this as a sign and picking it up tonight. Thanks Punkduck
@okcool3922 Жыл бұрын
The problem is, for me, is that I’ll buy a fighting game I’m genuinely interested in, load up training mode and get a feel for things, and right before I queue for that first casual match, I freeze up because I’m too afraid to get humbled. For example, Street Fighter 6. I bought the game the day it was released, and I was really excited because it was my first SF game. I hyped myself for months prior because this would be the fg i would “finally play online”. I was even perfectly fine with the fact that there would be veteran, because I knew there would simultaneously be new players like myself. But on that day, after loading up the game, going through the tutorial, and gravitating towards Kimberly, I thought I was ready to give online a try. But nope, even after all the mental preparation I put myself through, I couldn’t do it. However, I hadn’t exactly given up just yet, as I thought, “Well, it is kinda late. Maybe a fresh start in the morning will give me the push i need to at least try”. But, as i feared, it didnt happen. So now, SF6 is yet another fighting game in my backlog that will almost certainly never get touched again because I’m too afraid to take that first step. I know this comment was long, but it’s because this video and others like it have helped me put into words why, despite loving the fg genre, I just can’t really get that much into them. I don’t really know if anyone else is in this same boat, but this is my personal reason for not giving these games the respect and time they deserve.
@PunkDuck Жыл бұрын
Yeah I totally get you, that's why I highly recommend playing against someone you know (preferably on the same skill level) instead of playing against random people online; I also tend to get in my head about my performance in ranked but when I play with friends we all dick around

I have played many a fighting game, and I ended up finding myself playing DOA the most because I like its mechanics the best. I enjoy the lower value placed on combos and the larger emphasis on consistently outplaying your opponent over the course of a match by punishing whiffs and by using good counters. Not that I can ever bring up the game without people hitting me with the "HHHUUUUUHHH? THE TIDDY FIGHTER?" Not that it doesn't deserve that reputation, I just wish people were able to acknowledge that it's *also* a genuinely good fighting game.

this was a very good guide in getting into fighting games, although its funny to me because I essentially did the opposite of everything in here (I love going out on Rank Mode since Day 1, I study up on Combo Trials and read the silly long ass tutorials) with an added dash of my passion for the genre making me seek out more resources online (like this video 💖) that get me hyped up on this genre and/or help me further understand how to play. It really goes to show how each person's path is super different, but we all have that drive to play and get better at these cool ass games. Love the perspective here!! sorry about your uncle

Spoiler alert, IT'S NOT!!! I used to love playing them, but when literally all online matches are sweat fest, I couldn't stand putting up with it anymore. I will also add if going on Rank isnt your thing (i dont blame you), there are dozens and dozens of wonderful discord communities out there if people want more of a community experience and meet people within the scene that can help you learn. With more and more fighting games having crossplay too it means that getting hardware locked is becoming less of an issue if you pick a modern game, especially with SF6 you can hop into a lobby with people playing on all different consoles and play together.
