Hi Tim,over here they are a highly rated fish,we actually have designated sardine fishermen,they are really popular,as many people have had them in Europe on holiday in Spain and Italy,Portugal and France where they love the humble sardine.They are a cheap priced fish here too,but are a big seller, especially for the BBQ.I love them, cooked pan fried, they are awesome,and they are really good for you too.which is a bonus.many thanks Tim for that great comment,cheers mate.

Great video mate, you showed multiple cleaning methods and did them well without smashing the fish which some people have on other videos. Top job, I'll be right for ours tomorrow now.

Here, and clearly I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic, I can buy them whole, dressed and frozen for silly low prices as they are considered "junk" or ethnic food. Thanks to Scots vid. I finally know how to prepare them

I picked some up from Chinatown in Sydney with heaps of other fantastic stuff, Yeah it was like five dollars for 16 of them pretty cheap, I'm thawing them in the fridge right now and am going to have the fillets for lunch tomorrow with some fried potatoes.

Didn't realize that sardines grew that large. I eat the can variety, swimming in vinegar, pretty much on a daily bases - its one of my favorite snacks.

Excellent :-) I just bought some sardines from Greece. They are a lot smaller than yours, but Whole and frozen raw... Looks like about 20 per pound. Filleting these little babies may be tricky... lol I think, your method of Pressing them, to remove the bones, may work best... We'll see...

@predragpavicevic2166 жыл бұрын
Oh no, but instead of that he throw away the half of fish meat. The scales must remain to be sure that these 6 massacred sardines will be enough for a meal.

Scott you're like me I use olive oil frying but we are wrong to do it. It's carcinogenic
@jamegumb72989 жыл бұрын
+mikecat23 Not even that, its smokepoint is rather low. The reason I do not use it to cook in. Sunflower oil is better.

With these badboys i like to let them defrost in the sun and when they're ready I like fillet or butterfly fillet it then i skewer them onto a hook. Then if you want you dress the fillet on the hook with what they call Pro-cure Sardine oil and then I like to throw it out far and catch me a 15 pound all white meat striped bass. Lol
