Over the years I have seen many youtube bird/wildlife photography channels transform from great content at the outset to some sort of camera gear home shopping boredom after one or two years. Your channel is different. It never fails to amaze me how you manage to create so much useful information on so many different species and present hints on where and how to photograph them best in high frequency on a regular basis. Your life long experience in wildlife photography shines through every time. Thank you very much, Mike, for all the wonderful videos, images, tips and the occasional jesting. I really appreciate it! 👍

some cracking footage. Great patience as ever. I'm not at all surprised that birds don't know what season it is. Thanks for sharing the video, they are always great to watch.

Where I live we have both the Least and Pied Billed Grebes and as you said getting images of them surfacing is a challenge. Thanks for another great video and the tip of where to look for them as they surface.

Splendid footage and narration. We have a good variety of grebes here in California; the same challenges apply when it comes to assessing when and where they’ll emerge after a dive.

Thanks for sharing. I had the rare opportunity of female Hooded Merganser on a near by creek in June. Only see them during the winter month here. She was one lean crayfish catching machine. Just in the about two hours that I was observing her, she caught 11 crayfish.

I am 74 Mike and just ourchased an om1 i, i have both the 75-300 ii oly and 100-300 ii lumix. After 4 spinal fusions, a pacemaker and 6 stents that's the upper limits of wt that i can handle. I do "run and gun" photography of florida waterfowl. My hat's off to you re your preparation, the gear you carry your patience. Would like to do more video but the brain doesn't switch gears quite fast enough. Thanks for the inspiration.

II had a similar experience with a pied bill grebe last year. I was never able to predict where it was going to come up but I saw that it was catching little black crawfish about two inches long. That was a good tip for fishing.

Another great video Mike, when you process your video do you still use Cyberlink, you seem to shoot more video than stills at the moment, for me I like that. Happy New Year.
@MikeLaneFRPS18 күн бұрын
Yes still Cyberlink although it seems less stable these days. Each update seems to create more issues.

Creating a small island in a pond might help them breed. Especially if it is ringed with vegetation where they can hide their nest.
