Love this breakdown! 📹✨ I don’t think Aputure makes any round scrims for their fresnel attachments but that definitely would have taken down the hot spot-you could always grab a few Arri scrims for this and use an articulating arm to attach to the barn doors. With the slow push for LEDs, you don’t find round scrims on a G&E truck anymore.. unless you have a tungsten package.

I had a problem with the specular highlight on the forehead on an interview shoot. Everyone one wanted to roll cams but yet wanted me to fix it. What I did was flag the backlight (which was giving us the spill) with a small silk diffusion which spreaded the highlight and made it softer and less distracting. Good stuff!
@BrittneyJanae10 ай бұрын
Thank you! That was an option but we had to keep the light clean since it was in the shot as a prop

@@BrittneyJanae Ahh! Got it. By the way, I watched your video on shooting BTS on movie sets. I recently did that on a movie set recently. The movie set were old St. Louis homes, church and hospital. Space was at a premium and you had a lot of producers and hanger ons.I took your advice and used a monopod, but it was still tough work.

🎥 🎥 🎥 love the sidey light look from the key and wrapping your fill around. Is there a reason/ emotion this delivers as opposed to a more traditional set up?
@BrittneyJanae10 ай бұрын
So I went for the sidey look because we wanted the 12x frame on the shot. Based on the inspiration photos and how I wanted to see the “BTS” look of the set. Also the goal is to step away from the traditional look of documentaries to create something fresh and exciting so I love trying new setups when I can! Also if I did a book light or anything similar it would have probably lit too much of the scene. The fill and side light gave more contrast to the scene.

📷 This is one of those times where what I take away from something as insightful as this, is the motivation to want to "words better". Though, I think i'll forever be stuck in the habit of arriving on-scene of projects, appearing to be "lost in space" in a random corner, before dashing back n' forth w/ random items while people wonder what I'm doing and/or what I'm going for. Thankfully most of those people have enough patience w/ me to end up liking the results at the end of my "mad scientist" moments. But another thing I'm taking away from this is "texture". I focus too much on sourcing 2D texture and put off branching out to explore environmental elements for textures.

📹for a photography class directional light assignment I used a work shop light with reflector that clamped onto things. 📷it seems cheaper and easier to get workshop lights from hardware store along with colorful bulbs. i have not used workshop lights with video cameras. one challenge i see in watching movies with night scenes is that I cant see whats going on. I am seeing it more nowadays than in past.
@BrittneyJanae10 ай бұрын
