Tahnk for sharing your tircks of the trade. I personnaly have big hands and (almost) always drive one handed. One thing i'Ve noticed is sometimes i used to hold my phone upside down to have a lower angle but whe i do the image stabilisation stil works upside up so it actually amplifies the shake. Be aware, i guess not all phone works the same but i got so much screw up footage beacuse of that

Some youtubers get amazing footage driving one handed! My phone doesn't even have image stabilization so it's only useful for tripod mounted shots. Thanks for hanging out mate!

You can buy thumb steering attachments for your controller that make onehanded driving much easier. I think I'd still prefer 2 hands though.

Yes I did consider that option, but my control of the vehicle really suffers and I just don't enjoy driving with one hand. Thanks for hanging out, much appreciated!

Thanks for sharing this! I'm quite new to the whole RC hobby. Up until now, I place my camera on the ground, drive by, and move the camera to the next place. I will try to steal your idea, but my camera is a bit heavier. We'll see if I can get it to work.

Your very welcome! You can get some great footage with the camera stationary, but it take a lot of effort to plan all the different camera angles. I really like to see the action close up, so this rig has worked well! Thanks for your comment and happy experimenting!

I tried a lot... just comes down to the camera person! Me... i cant walk and chew gum at the same time. When i have a helper... the lefts and rights are wrong and go and no sounds the same... so does stop and drop! Good stuff...pratice makes perfect!❤😊

I am no great film maker but when I do record I attach a gopro to the bottom of my gt5 radio using a gopro shoe stuck to my battery door...a 6 inch extension puts the camera right in front tilted to the right angle....👍🏼

Very interesting. I want to shoot videos of my 1/24 crawlers and i need this kind of tips. I have a reflex cam (similar to your Olympus) and a GoPro-like mini cam. How are you sure to point well enough to center the car on the picture ? You can hardly see the screen, as the cam hangs low and far from your eyes. Thank you for sharing your know-how.👍
@havikhobbies
@havikhobbies Жыл бұрын
On the Olympus camera I can actually tilt the screen in such a way that I can glance down and check my framing. But I can't always reference the screen in all lighting conditions so I just glance down every so often and make sure the lens is pointing at the truck and at about the same level! Not an exact science, you get the hang of it pretty quickly! Thank your questions and comments, I really appreciate you being here!

If I may make a suggestion; with his set-up, you could try attaching a thin rod to the selfie stick, above the camera. Just set it at a height that it's not so low as to get in frame of the shot. Might be best up close to the controller. Adjust it so it's in-line with the lens accounting for how you hold your controller, and long enough that it reaches out so you can see it while driving without actually having to pay attention to it. Bit of practice and you'll just naturally see it and keep it pointing in-line with your rig without thinking about it. Maybe a length of piano wire or plastic rod. Something light so you aren't struggling with it. Could use one of those magnetic ball and socket cell phone mounts, or something else, to make it adjustable for each time you mount your camera. Could paint the tip bright orange or pink so it stands out bit more from the background. This at least gives you a side to side aiming devise.

You can just install a 1/4 inch bolt in the bottom of your controller. Head of the gorilla pod unscrews, and you can screw that piece onto the controller. don't have to worry about figuring out how to secure the gorilla pod to the contoler.
@havikhobbies
@havikhobbies Жыл бұрын
Yes that would work well. The only reason I like the temporary attachment method is I'm always changing between transmitters and I don't want to permanently modify all of them.
