Want to see how I get my underwater footage? Take a look at two methods for underwater filming: one which uses a long pole, and a unique castable rig that uses fishing line, a sliding swivel and a 5 oz cannonball sinker.

Underwater Fishing Camera Comparison: • Underwater Fishing Cam...
______________________________________________________
I came up with 2 different setup I'm really enjoying for filming fish underwater. One is a simple fixed rig that involves an extendable pole, pyramid sinkers and a clamp mount for action cameras. The second is a camera rigged on a sliding swivel, which you can cast either by hand or with a heavy rod. The slider keeps the camera and weight together as one unit so there isn't any risk of tangling. It was actually partly inspired by the helicopter rig, which is used in carp fishing over heavy weed and sediment.
I'm not gonna lie: it took me many different versions of the castable rig to figure out exactly how to avoid the spinning and tangling of the camera/mainline. What I came up with is, in my opinion, a pretty solid rig that I haven't had tangle yet. It keeps the camera faced in one direction and involves minimal gear, and can be adjusted to film in different levels of the water column.
Let's try to get this video up to 100 likes!! Drop a comment down below: Would YOU try these rigs out? Are you interested in underwater filming?
I'm really hoping to do some deep-water filming this summer so look forward to that!

Thanks so much for this bud. I actually already use a 7 metre painter's pole for filming, but I am having rotation issues as the river I use it in is tidal. I like the idea of maybe just casting my gopro like you did. Please post if you come up with any new ideas, cheers from England

Nice video! I like the idea of the floating camera. Our affordable alternative to the 15ft pole is a golf ball retriever found at a second hand store. It’s a great collapsible aluminum pole about 10-15 ft long!

Nice videos, keep up the great work! Try rigging the camera to the underside of an RC boat. Either with a line or fixed so you know from the direction of the boat which way the camera is pointing.

Seriously great video.. I have a few places I am convinced there are big fish hiding and I will defo be trying some of these later in the year. I think that adding a 3d printed fin to it so I can stabilise in the current of the river will make it perfect. I really love the idea of using tackle that will break in the right places is a super idea.. Thank you again for the hard work.

Thank you!! That's a great idea! I like to use the pole for heavy current and find a break in the current like behind a rock. The bobber setup is better for still or slow water. Yeah it's so fun to check it out just make sure you have bright lighting if you can. Appreciate ya! 🐟🙏

I like your casting rig but I think you can improve on it. So carp fishers like to know the exact depth where they are fishing so they can fish the entire water column. To determine depth from shore they use a "marker float rig". Its similar to what you are doing but one big difference you can adjust the height (depth?) of the camera from shore after its casted out. The first thing you put on the line is a weight this can be with a small leader and swivel, the key thing is the weight is free to slide along the line. After the weight you tie the float with the camera. Then to mark determine depth (or set the camera in you case). You cast the entire to the correct location. The carp guys use huge spinner rods for this so a surf pole with heavy test seems to be in order. Once the weight lands on the bottom. you can then start to slowly let out line. The float should be pulling up on the line while the weight remains in place releasing line allows the float to move to the surface. Gently reeling in the line will allow you to make the float descend to the "casting weight". Once float is back on the bottom and no more line can pass through the weight eyelet that's when you will start to real in the weight. The carp guys map out several depths with this method. Similarly you should be able reposition the cameras to any depth along from the position of your first cast all the way back to shore. Here is a video of how to use a marker float kzbin.info/www/bejne/anOqn6hpe7BpodU

Awesome thanks for subscribing and welcome to the channel! I've got a link in the description for the castable rig -- I recommend the 66lb/3# size of the snaps. Amazon makes you buy 100, so you might want to hit up a tackle shop! Hope that helps! Let us know how it works for ya!

Good question! The Akaso EK7000 has an upside down mode. I believe the GoPro automatically flips the recording and display when you put it upside down. Unfortunately the V50Pro doesn't have an upside down mode, so you have to flip the recording with a video editor. So it depends on the camera. Tight lines!
