Been there and getting back there time and time again :) Many professional teachers and artists told me that my fundamentals are solid but I still get back to it everytime I feel the art not coming out. I also like to try new techniques to draw the head, while Loomis and Reilly methods are the literal basics of everyone, many artists developed their own way of doing things. Some use cuboids instead of spheres, others don't even use lines but shapes instead, etc maybe exploring those could help. The one that work the best for me right now (yeah cause for some reason some techniques stopped working for me like Loomis xD) is to draw a simplified skull in between the guidelines and the features, this helped me have more confidence in my face features position. It does feel tedius at first and to be honest I wasn't much motivated when I tried it but it worked so well especially in difficult perspectives.

Oooh, that is an interesting way to go about it! Thank you for the comment :) I feel like many artists (including myself) can get quite discouraged when a method as well-known and used as the Loomis method doesn't seem that helpful. I would love to see exactly how you do it, do you have any examples online? If not, you can always join the discord and post it there if you would like to (I promise this is not a shameless self-plug, I am genuinely interested in learning your ways) :D thanks a lot again

In a similar boat with family and non-art related work. I've been thinking about streaming and posting studies on a schedule to keep me going. Your channel is motivating!

Thank you! This motivates me to start doing the weekly study discord thing a lot :) we got this, as long as we put the work in

@@Silustrations Oh great idea about a Discord! The best place for artists these days. I've had the best luck finding weekly or daily prompt challenges, as that narrows down the problem of "what should I draw today?" haha

That and deadlines. It's like I need deadlines or i'll go forever. Also some time constraints on a sketch. Like no longer than 30 min depending on what is being studied (gesture drawing is shorter like 3-5 minutes tops)

I learned how to do a simple shape of a skull including jaw bones, taking care of proportions of that shapenand it worked. For example if you draw a circle and draw an horizontal line just at the lowest part of the circle and then 2 vertical lines at both sides of the circle, touching the most prominent parts of the circle, you form a "square, well, the 2 bottom corners work as the edges or most prominent parts of the cheekbones :)
