Maybe I'm missing something, but is there a reason for using this double loop method rather than a single loop? I've figured out the single loop method through another technique and it seems to work fine, but maybe I'm not understanding the advantage of it.
@squishyandco
@squishyandco Жыл бұрын
That's a great question! It really just boils down to personal preference, because they both get the job done. Over time and with use, the single loop can come loose leaving you with holes where you didn't want them. (Learned this the hard way.) You can combat that by being diligent in how you weave in your tail. With the double loop, you still have to weave in the tail, but it really only takes one quick loop back in the other direction. I don't like weaving in ends, so I go with the double loop.
@chelliespider
@chelliespider Жыл бұрын
@@squishyandco Thanks so much for the fullness of your reply! I hate weaving in ends too, but I tend to be paranoid about weaving back and forth to secure things. So it makes sense that a single loop works similarly to this method for me. Appreciate it. 🙏

Have been practicing but that tail does not land in the right place between the two threads on the left side, it seems it's twisting and I'm not sure if that is right because when I go to pull on it, neither threads, get tight?
@squishyandco
@squishyandco Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Sometimes the tail does twist around the two loops and I like to untwist it so the tail hangs free. That usually makes it easier to see which loop is tightening.
@cheryls4526

@@squishyandco ok I will do that. I thought it was supposed to twist and that was why I couldn’t get it to work a second time

You're definitely not the only one. It's supposed to be so simple but I've been struggling to make the magic ring for months. This video actually pushed me into the "eureka! It works!" zone. Keep trying - magic ring seems worth it for many crochet applications, called for more often than a foundation chain in amigurumi and such. (I'm a beginner.)

@@Rubygeee LOL! Totally fair. Try searching for videos on the single loop method (this one is double loop.) I learned the single loop first. Just be sure to weave in your ends really well with the single loop because they tend to loosen up if not.
