Do you have to have job experience to land a job at the Olympics? I’d love to work in the Olympic/Paralympic Village in some capacity, but I’m disabled so I’ve only ever had one job before working lots of hours became too much for me. Because of my disability, I could only work part time, but this is such a cool opportunity that I would love to be a part of if I can. Thank you for your advice!

Hi Chloe, great question! Job experience helps or having relevant experience, like working with athletes or guests. It could be worth looking at part time work with a local sports team/organization near you to build up your resume. If you have any language skills, that can also help your application. Volunteering is a great way as well to get into the Games without as much experience as a paid role and I know they do shifts (not sure how long) but they are open to adapting to different team members needs. Hope that helps!

Hello, I just found this video and this was very helpful. May I ask do I need prior experience in anyway to work in the Olympic? And do you if I could just work for like one Olympic team not the whole Olympic?

Prior experience always help but skills do transfer so you can definitely land a role without having worked at the Olympics. Volunteering really helped me understand the scale of the event and gave me some experience into my first paid role. There are roles with specific country teams as well as sponsors, local organizing committee, and much more. Hope you can make your Olympic dream happen!

Hi Logan🙂Thank you for the insights! I have been applying for Paris 2024 for the past 4 months; although my profile matches the jobs announced, I cannot get to the interview phase. Any recommendations on that?

I'd suggest reaching out to folks who have prior Games experience or currently are listed as working for Paris 2024 on LinkedIn. Setting up a quick 15-20 minute phone call can help you make a good impression and figure out who the right person is to speak to.

Amazing, I personally don't have any leads for roles at the Olympics but I suggest following my steps above and reaching out to folks on LinkedIn who have previously worked at the Olympic Games to network and learn how they got their roles.
