My Highlights: How To Find A Technical Co-Founder Three step process to find tech talent 1. Prove your idea = Need something to show them something, more than an idea. Clickable prototype or customer orders. 2. Engage in community = Go where tech talent is and engage. Tech meetups. Groups online. 3. Prove your value = Be able to tell your story. Your industry experience, track record, advisors. "I don't want to build something nobody ever uses." Have a 10-hour project to work on together. "I can't work with you until I work with you." How you compensate a tech co-founder will be a combination of A. Risk, B. Value, C. Length of time. Takeaways: Before looking for a tech person, have more than an idea - some sort of clickable prototype. Then, find a way to do a 10-hour project together. Brilliant.

Thanks for video and Looking Tech co founder in India..!

Love the 10 hour project idea. As a software dev myself I can get curious but am often afraid of the consequences of saying yes.

I'm technical with 14+ years of experience and some of the products I have worked on are making half a million in yearly recurring revenue. Now I plan to change gear and start a business but need a business co-founder who is good at selling and hustling so I can take care of the technical side. What's the best way to go for this? I moved from US to India for family and the place I live in doesn't have any tech companies so meetups are not an option :(

Ashit Vora post your email here / Tonner of non-technical business founders watch this video. That being said, got to as many business/entrepreneurial events as you can. DM

a.k.vora@gmail.com 6 years ago, I decided to move back to my home country from the US for good and since then I am working remotely. There are hardly any tech companies in the part of India where I live. Since last few years I have worked as a consultant for few tech companies via my past connections. Since there are no major tech companies here, there are no meetups to meet aspiring entrepreneurs here.

Hey brother awesome video! Three questions; Did you pay Justin at the beginning or was it equity? How much if you're cool with sharing? Did it become an even split with you and Scott? Would you please do a video on how to build a startup team as a bootstrap / pre-revenue? Thanks for sharing such awesome content, hope you're having an awesome week!
@danmartell9 жыл бұрын
+James Balcer I can't really talk about salaries / compensation per se since it is a legal agreement... but I can say this generally speaking. The equity portion I cover in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/noikYpVupNycpMU - Risk - Value - Length of time If they're willing to take risk (no salary), have unique skill / knowledge and they're going to be involved for 6+ year then compensate them with more equity than someone that didn't. Wish I could be more prescriptive but it's a big question that requires context. DM

Thanks Dan! Have you ever had a remote tech co-founder or was it always someone local that you could meet with in person?
@danmartell8 жыл бұрын
I've done remote, but it just meant we needed to meet in person atleast once every 3 months. It's not impossible, but just means more phone time & skype video. You could even have a live feed going on during business hours for each other. DM

Thanks for the great advice. Could you comment on how to find a business development CoFounder?
@danmartell9 жыл бұрын
+Dimanya1977 that one requires a different approach... might have to do a video on it. Short answer. - Find companies you admire - Search who does biz dev for them - Ask them for advice - If you like them (and them you) see if there's a fit to work together. DM
