I just did a tire today, sounds crazy but the issue was a loose valve stem core! I tightened it up and no more leak!

I was always told by several mechanics to REFILL the tire with air, Before inserting the plug. Because it makes insertion easier with less aggression vs no air in the tire.

Juan Montanez Some tire/repair shops will actually do it for FREE which is ALWAYS better! I know Discount Tire used to but I don't know if they still do.

Rick how are you doing? is everything ok? Havent seen any videos for 2 years. My tire holds 2-3 days before completely flat. I will try same method. I dont know if its tire or rusty rim. Have to repair it until i buy new tires.

I bent those cheap install tools putting in a plug in my AT truck tires. I ended up going on eBay and buying a professional install kit. My question is, what soap does the best job?

I turn my heat on high and stick the plug in the vent to soften it up.

Karen, you aren't likely to find clear jel in the grocery store. Try a local Amish market or go to Auguson Farms or Honeyville Grains on line and order yourself a bag of what they are calling Ultimate Jel which is instant clear jel. You don't want the non-instant type because this requires cooking to set. The instant is a modified food starch that mixes into either hot or cold liquids to thicken them. Hope that helps.

Ooooo, GOOD question! Since the "corner" of the tire, both front and back, take the majority of abuse during cornering I would take the safe route and replace it.

How do you get your tire to turn all the way after getting it off the ground? My tire won't turn after lifting it up.

First make sure the wheels still on the ground are blocked in front and back of the wheel then release the parking brake and/or put the shifter in neutral.

Interesting, it used to be you would get a tire patched on the inside. Plugs where used as a temporary fix, it even says temporary fix on box. I've only used plugs recently because I bought the road hazard warranty with new tires at Pep Boys. When you have a flat with a small screw like I did, you end up with a hole that's gigantic with a couple of plugs, probably because you're guessing/ hoping you get the correct path of puncture. I'll never buy tires OR the road hazard guarantee from Pep Boys again. It's sad there are no more tire professionals left anymore.

Discount Tire used to repair tires for free (and yes, by dismounting the tire and patching it on the inside!) but I don't know if they still do that.

i tried searching for tires that leaks or bubbles when sprayed by soap water all around on its threads, but clips are no clips for that.

Great video, very helpful. My understanding is that some slow leaks come from the valve stem (which you showed) or from the inner or outer bead (which you did not show). Even before jacking the car up to rotate and spray the whole tire, it can be helpful to simply spritz soapy water on the outer bead (or inner bead if one crawls underneath the car) and the valve stem. It that's the issue, as you say, just drive it to the tire fixer guy. :-)) Thanks again for the video.

Is this a permanent solution? Used slime and it slowed the leak by about 80% for a few months but now it's now working anymore

This kind of plug is permanent. "Slime" and "fix a flat" are only intended to be temporary fixes to get you to a tire repair shop.

I had this issue in one of my tires, it leaks in hours, almost totally. I took it to a workshop, he did the same and fixed it for $2.67.

Great Video on tire/leak repair, ,,,,but when you aimed the camera at the side of the tire, and it shown that you have "FireStone" Tires on your vehical. I felt bad for you all. lol because of past "Bad Experence's with Brand New Set of FireStone tires I WILL NEVER BUY another FireStone Tire. YOU might say Bought Experance is the best kind to learn from. I wouldn't take a FireStone Tire if you gave it to me. They are the worst tire to put on a Car. Good Luck. :)

Tom Scott Other than the rash of SUV tires coming apart in the early 2000's I've not heard of any more, nor have I had any, problems with Firestone tires.

Untill you have one come apart at 70 mph and it being a Brand New Tire, I guess you wouldn't think twice about it. lol I was lucky to get my money back. and I never bought another one , ever. The worst tire on the road. and there are some really bad ones. lol but the FireStone is the very worst. Have a good one.

Firestone also manufactures a roof membrane that is used on walmart store roofs. the way it is made: fiber cord reinforced plastic, allows anaerobic bacteria to breed inside of it and be released inside the store by gas generated by the bacteria. It is easily punctured and every store has leaks in the membrane, and water and bacteria travel along the fibers inside the membrane, breeding and blooming, forever releasing spores onto walmart shoppers. Roof of death.

Rondo Schiavoni The size spray bottle I used had probably about a tablespoon of dish soap in it. And yes, you want to use something sudsy like liquid dish soap, liquid hand soap, or even shampoo.
