How would you add the internal link without using the same anchor text keyword you didn't want the page to rank for. Or should you just use something like "Click here"

Question : i merged 2 pages together that were competing for the same keyword like you said, and added a 301 to the main page from the other one. My question is how long should i wait before completely deleting the old page with the 301? Google is still indexing the old page after the 301 was implemented. I made the merge a week ago. You can remove the other page now. Just keep the 301 redirect in place.

I recommend doing a url removal request on the 301’d page that is still in the index. As Kenneth suggested - leave the 301 in place just in case there are links pointing at that page (internal or external links.) hope this helps!

Hi Keneth! i have a site with 2 very similar generic keywords, but one ranks an specific URL and the other kw ranks another specific URL. I saw the keywords in GSC queries. Do you recommend optimizing this keywords "naturally" for that separated specific URLs?

Yes, optimize both naturally for those specific URLs. Check the other pages that are ranking for those two keywords, as well, to see what Google is looking for specifically for those two different keywords.

Say I am getting 10k impressions/clicks with one page and they 5000k with another page. Does it actually make a difference. As a business owner why do I care? Also are you saying let's say i want to rank for wall outlets I can only have one page that talks about wall outlets? Is this a keyword issue or a context issue?

If you want to rank for the specific keyword, "wall outlets," you should have one page focusing on that. You can create other pages to target other important terms ie: USB outlets, 125 Volt Outlets, 250 Volt Outlets etc.

The only tool I know is Semrush, but it's on the more expensive side, unfortunately.
