The scorched flintlock flint find was completely unreal! Finding something like that is only possible with experienced eyes along with the requisite knowledge needed to even understand what you're looking at. Bravo!!

Yes, work pretty well, just need to make a pair with a wider field of view. Loaned them to a friend and he been using them. He hunts a lot of creeks, where they work best.

I found a beautiful hematite ax years ago just about the size of the one you found. About 40 years ago I dug a rock shelter cave about 4 miles from Graham cave in Missouri. I found a mussel shell with two hematite pencils in it.

That scorch mark MIGHT actually be the contact point where the flint sat in the jaws of the hammer and sat against the screw which clamped down on the flint to hold it tight. Very cool!

Could there be a chance that the teeth are connected to a crime? Bodies found are often identified by their teeth. Could some criminal have pulled them and tossed them into the river to remove identification for remains that might someday be found?

If there’s a water cut bank below a flat area above where people could have lived. The higher the cut bank the better. You can find stuff with a lower cut bank, the artifacts usually aren’t as old. Wherever you you think would be an ideal location to live.

I hear ya, sometimes I go days without a find. I can’t make a video unless I find a good spot. If you watch my last video, it gives more detail on what to look for. But, bottom line..... There has to be stuff there to find it. It’s all about finding a site, then the artifacts come easy. Hope you find a Killer, don’t give up.👍

GENERALLY, French flints are brown and English flints are gray. When it comes to gun flints.

Not sure where it came from but I’ve seen a few others found in the area, and they have all been this light yellow color. It may not be that old either, there was an old house above probably early 1800’s to late 1800’s. I’ve found a lot of old bottles there also 1870’s

Any Idea the flint type on this one? Also, what are your definitions of flint and chert? If flint is the really hard, jewel grade, we have some of that here. Most are rougher grades like Crooksville or Kanawa Black cherts. But, some of the local small cobbles I find, are jewel grade like glass. Thanks for the comments also.👍

Not a lot of people know this, but natives used to coat certain tools or effigies in a layer of limonite. I'm not sure how they made it stick but i have a boat stone that was coated in a 1/16-inch layer of limonite and the stone under it is some kind of hard stone. I can also see marks on it as if they sanded it into a more precise shape.

Good stuff buddy. Those teeth could be from a murder victim so they can't identify by using dental records!
