Great info! I’m in NorCal and there is surprisingly little info on KZbin like this for my area. We don’t have many associated trees for standard morels unfortunately but we sure do get a lot of forest fires. I try to find maps but end up getting lost in the madness. I do keep track of areas that appear to have been burned recently with the intention to return and hunt, but so far that has not paid off.

Great presentation! I'm looking forward to my first morel hunt this year. I've lived in Oregon most of my life and never found a morel. Thanks!

thank you for this! this is my first year hunting morels (in Oregon). I went yesterday and only found 4 - the first 2 I found were right next to where we parked on the side of the road, after we unsuccessfully searched in wooded area for about a hour. but I purchased your maps and am going again soon

i spend alot of time in oregon, visiting my parents, and often in the eugene area.. thinking about moving up there, because the mushroom hunting scene in oregon is just so amazing compared to eastern washington! There's also a truffle hunting organization in the area, and they train truffle dogs! It's all so fascinating to me, as an avid forager and home mushroom grower.. i can't wait to come down in september to score some chantrelles!!!

Eugene has low priced property compared to the rest of Oregon. Nice place to settle if you ask me.

I found one, and the only one that I picked and ate, in the front yard of the farm in ND, 25 miles below Canada.

i actually took a trip to oregon to hunt morels this year, but i think i went too early, or just too far north.. when do you head to oregon for hunting, and what areas? that would be super useful to me.. i spent about a thousand bucks going to try to find morels in oregon but came home empty handed

I’m in Maine and we have lots of conifers here. What are the east coast species? Yeah in Northern Maine their are wild apple trees all over and soil composition is a factor. None found yet.

I know im pretty late, but I've heard a lot about elm, ash, and tulip poplar trees being great for yellows/natural morels out east

That desolation fire sucked for mushrooms. If you were to go over the summit and search the eastern side of the trees change and morels are everywhere

Once you have harvested some morels, how do you keep them? Dry them? How long do they keep after picking?

See oregon is different because of crater lake and it’s volcanic history.
