We were not meant to live in cement cities. I grew up in the mountains on a fresh water lake and I can’t live anywhere but in the mountains and near water. I now live in the Andes Mts. right now by a river and I can open the windows and hear the river flowing.

Do you ever wonder why it feels so different to be in nature than in the crowded city? One author, MV Summers, calls it the effects of the "mental environment". _Plants and animals do not have a strong influence on the mental environment. In nature, as you may have noticed, there can be neutrality in the mental environment. That is why people seek refuge in nature-it is refreshingly open and free of dominating influences._ - It is something to think about, I feel... And important. Don't see a lot of discussion about this.

I live on a main road where there is a grass verge and trees on either side. Two years ago the council came and cut back the tree opposite our house. It was a severe cut back and I wondered if it would recover. Every day I would talk to the tree and touch it as I went past. Bit by bit it recovered and now it is beautiful again. I call the tree 'Timbre' and feel an amazing connection with it. Every morning it brightens my day and I can feel its energy. I don't think I'm crazy; I think I have a wonderful friend.

The truth that "it will always be here" provides emence comfort to our being...as if it's a forever feeling of home that you can trust to BE free. I was always outside as a child, kid, and adult. There's pics of me falling asleep playing outside. I wouldn't nap. I built outdoor forts to sleep in, my big one was on the carport roof top lol. I don't sport clothes that say anything, but I do have a t-shirt that says..."Get Outside". So grateful to see it, smell it, feel it, experience it! Thank you, G'LordJus!

Nature can provide a sense of calm and relief, and focusing on the present moment and the sensations of the body can help quiet the mind and improve sleep. 00:00 🌳 Nature can provide a sense of calm and sanity, especially in a world dominated by human-made environments. 01:33 🌳 Nature brought the speaker happiness and relief, providing a sense of freedom and inspiring strange thoughts while cycling. 02:27 🌿 The natural world is eternal and has the ability to regenerate, even if humans cause harm to the planet. 03:57 💤 Before going to sleep, make sure the last thing you are aware of is not your device or the TV, but rather focus on your inner body awareness. 05:45 🌿 Focus on feeling the liveness in your body to quiet your mind and find calm in nature. 06:22 😴 Enter sleep in a calm and peaceful way by focusing on the present moment and the sensations of the body, which helps to quiet the mind and alleviate sleepless nights. 07:32 🌿 Direct your energy by focusing on your breath and the rise and fall of your abdomen, allowing the energy to spread throughout your body, and when you wake up, ignore critical thoughts and fear. 08:13 🌳 Don't believe every thought that tells you that you can't find calm in nature and sleep better, because you can.

@lindaontour
@lindaontour Жыл бұрын
I know it was an off the cuff comment and agree that a nice hotel can be a lovely experience, but it is usually expensive and short-lived. Everyone can afford to gaze into a tree, or at a flower, or maybe at a tiny insect, and see its beauty. Even better, we can all do this every day, for free. We are all different and should wish each other peace, wherever we find it. 🙏

@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
_"it will only create unnecessary imaginations in your head"_ That's a definite risk the more someone has repressed, dis-integrated trauma, anger, shame (subconscious). The irony is that people who suffer this way are more likely to seek a new way like awakening. Susceptible to more "magic thinking." The more overtly "non-dual" fad channels hurt people this way. They're very suggestive of an experience, not a journey of self-discovery. It's more "I can give you the no-self experience." That experience is real, arriving at it through suggestion & craving for it can be problematic if the person has issues (and they don't explore getting there through introspection, shadow work, etc.). Eckhart doesn't push non-duality the way other pop-awakening channels do. But, his form of "meditation" concerns me that way. It's not just practicing silence, stillness, observing. His are very talkative, suggestive, leading (hypnotism?). Pointings are useful. But, during the meditation? That concerns me as similar to the fad'ish non-dual teachers. I'm glad you found your way out of what you got into. I would encourage you not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Being mindful, present, attending to your mind (your experience) is 100% compatible with psychology. Your experience may just be wrong timing, wrong motivation, etc.

We always should question and become doubtful about someone who tell us not to think, that is a good way to manage sheep that follow the guru. Even if the intention is good and meditation oriented, which certainly has its benefits. Eckart Tolle instant and almost magical solutions sounds equally strange but perfect for the present, with people looking for quick answers for their anxieties. Besides, I found a bit fake that Eckart Tolle adopted part of the outfit of a true spiritual character, the artist Joseph Beuys. It is known that Joseph Beuys trade mark was a Stetson felt hat and a beige vest, together with a white shirt. Regarding Beuys it had a meaning, his costume was related to his aviator vest, his past experience as a Stuka pilot and his life dramatic story. Nevertheless, there are some interesting insights in Tolle's main book, but it should be taken very carefully and critically, which means that people should discard any advice they think doesn't make sense, and welcome what may be useful for them. To make it short: No one, neither a guru or a book, can tell you what is your life purpose, this is a task for yourself.

He is not saying don’t think through situations, or don’t think about life or your job or your children. He is only saying turn off your mind and just be yourself without all the extra burdens we carry around and actually manufacture for ourselves. I happen to be a big thinker and I am always in my head somewhere. Not in the present but somewhere else.I have to turn it off and just be still and be who I am. If not, I am lost. That is not being a sheep. It is finding your true self and being who you were meant to be.

Ok, but that's not much different from many meditation books/authors and what they have to deliver, which is fine. Actually, some suggestions Eckart makes are interesting. But this author tries to extend it somehow beyond the simplicity of this sort of proposals, as if he is a big deal and so much different. But if we are on that I would prefer Pablo d'Ors "Biography of Silence", an author that is much more sober and truthful. Or even Byung Chul Han, which insists on the importance of nature and contemplation and refers to presence, without asking you to stop thinking altogether (or forget past experiences and future goals).
