Great tips Charlie. Now do us all a favor and delete this video or at least hide it behind your paywall. There is enough competition out there as it is without you teaching the noobs! 🤫🤫🤫 😂

These are all good tips Charlie. Also get to know the guy who runs the dump/recycling/electronics recycling. That's how I got Area 51 and Mortal IV Kombat for free. Oh and find a 80s phone book and look up the arcade amusement section of the old phone book. That is how I got a Donkey Kong for cheap.
@overtimearcadeАй бұрын
Ooh, those are both good ideas!

How does an 80s phone book even help you? Wouldn't all those arcades be out of business? Who are you calling?

Basically, you're hoping that an operator is still in business of some kind (even if it's evolved into vending machines, etc.) and/or some numbers are still in service as a means of connecting with people who were involved with that business at some point. You just want to be in a position to ask someone who might know, "Do you have any old arcade games that you'd like to sell or get rid of?" This is how warehouse raids often come together.

Pretty good insight. Networking and making friends is really the most important one. Another one is just being friendly. Sellers are much more likely to help or give you a break if you hit it off with them. It's also fun to learn their story. Everyone has a story to tell, many of them are fun.

You’re welcome! I was originally planning to make this video exclusively for channel members, but then I figured it was too good not to release publicly. But I’m still only sharing great deals I find on the private members-only Discord server! 😅

Great tips! I went to pick up a Kangaroo that had been converted to a Twin Eagle and wound up coming home with a Robotron 2088 that had been converted to a Gladiator as well. Got the pair for $400. As you said, he wanted to get rid of them and just asking if he had anything else led to snagging both. He was a fun guy to get to know as well.

Great info. Considering that I'm in Ireland, home to Atari Ireland, it is so hard to get any form of machines. Another issue is searching for "arcade", and getting tons of 1ups and multi game cabs, so annoying.

I hear ya! One of the tricks I use to help weed-out A1Us is to filter for "Used - Good" and "Used - Fair" under Condition on FB Marketplace. A1U sellers tend to think their junk is "NEW" regardless of the item's actual condition.

Projects can cost more than just finding a nicer version of the game. Bad boards, Bad Monitors, Missing parts, Art, etc... it all adds up quickly.

Sure, but that’s half of the fun! To me, the best part of this hobby is bringing a derelict back to life - especially one that nobody else would be crazy enough to touch!
