Hi Sheika, That is definitely a loaded question but I would say when marketing on social media (depending on the platform), make sure you are using hashtags related to what audience you are trying to reach. Use all the platforms possible because you can get leads from anywhere. KZbin is great for long-form content like room tours or my day at Disney. Tik Tok is great for short clips. Instagram you can do almost anything on and same with Facebook. Ads are big when trying to hit target audiences. I find KZbin & Facebook are the best for ads. I hope that helps!

New! I love cruising and have cruised approximately 20+ times. I have been approached to become a travel agent on a part time basis. I’m 56 and looking for new job opportunities for when I retire. I accepted the job. I’m am still doing the certification programs for Royal and Norwegian and need to jump on Disney in January. But while this is going on I also want to work on how to get clients. What worries me is I have put together all my cruise vacations and I’m nervous doing this for other people. Any comments are welcome. Keep in mind I also have a full time job which is wearing me down but like anything else I need to stay full time for benefits.

Hi Karen, It is definitely scary at first but once you get the first few clients under your belt, you will feel much better! It sounds like you have some great experience & the certification programs should help as well. You will have time during your research phase to really dig deep into the websites & find the best bookings for your clients. This is a great side gig! Deep breath- you got this!

Here's something from the customer side... I was searching some of my favorite KZbin travel agents, and I'm finding that a lot of them don't have websites, or they haven't optimized their site for search engines to make them show on the the first page of the search. I'm finding a lot of Facebook and Instagram pages and twitter accounts, but the only social media I use is KZbin.

Thats great! I hope you can close those clients as well. As for ads, it really depends on which platform you are doing ads on. For our companies, we have been testing many different ads & there isn't "just one way" that works. You will have to test different kinds of ads to see which kinds reach your target audience. Hi There! That is great, I am so happy for you! Making 1-2K a month is very doable if you are willing to put the work in. Think of it like this: if you book 2 trips a month at 5K each, you would make a commission of 1K. If you book 2 trips a month at 10K each, you would make a commission of 2K. Most commission runs at 10% of total sales so I would say it is absolutely doable!

What would you say would be the targeting ages for a travel advisor that doesn’t have a specialty per se?
