Important note on the "further down = faster" factoid: That applies to the highest non-air block. If you leave any kind of natural terrain or roof above the farm, it won't matter at which height you build the farm itself below that roof. Torches and other blocks without a collision box (that are neither rails not redstone components) do not block slime spawns. What does, though, is solid blocks in the walls - the whole pack spawning mechanic stops when hitting a solid block. For obsidian mining: I found that you can even stand on and mine three blocks in an L-shape. It's a bit more finicky to position yourself and aim, but it's 50% more time until you need to pay attention to the game again. :)

Awesome video!!! Also I have a theory that the Slime mob was created by the witch, cause they spawn in swamps and caves, who else does? Witches, and the Slime would only go after the player and Iron Golem, and will not attack any other mob, as they are the Slime's enemies, but they are also the only two in the game that also enemies to the Witch, and when a Skeletons Shoots a Crepper with a bow and arrow, the Creeper will attack the Skeleton, but if it Shoots a Slime instead, the Slime will not attack the Skeleton and focus on the player, as it is their job to protect the Witch from either Iron Golems or you

So glad to see you sharing the fence technique. I even commented it in your beacon mining episode. While most people use external tools I'm a purist of manual finding your slime chunks, and fencing chunks at your beacon strip mine makes it really easy.. there's no real need for external tools in vanilla survival. Edit: [28:58] Zombified piglin spawning on nether portals don't count towards the mob cap (which makes them very versatile overworld gold/xp farms).

@another_jt2 жыл бұрын
The hitbox of torches do not prevent slimes from spawning, so there isn't a need to change them out. If you still decide to do so, Jack-o-lanterns are the only light source (so far as I'm aware) that mobs can also spawn on. Even though shroomlights are considered a solid block, mobs don' t still don't spawn on them, and other light sources are transparent, also preventing mob spawns.

If you can't afford a second account / don't want the hassle of it (especially with Microsoft being involved now) / don't think it's the kind of thing you should have to be paying for to begin with just so you can use an external camera, there's a mod called Freecam that allows a lot of the same functionality. A lot of the Hermits use it these days. About the only limitations it has compared to a "camera account" is that it has to be in the same area your player has loaded, so it cannot for example just go to another dimension, or into unloaded chunks outside your render distance. Works fine for observing things out of view or looking for dark caves, etc. As it's a client-side mod, be sure any MP servers are fine with it before using it with those though, or you could get banned for cheating.

Hey kids, if you want to find a slime chunk in your own worlds, bring a couple stacks of fence gates down to the mines, and mine a 3x3 tunnel along a chunk border, leaving fence gates at every chunk border you cross. That's every 16 blocks. Once you run out of fence gates, turn around and see if any slimes have spawned. Go through the tunnel a couple times to make sure they have a chance to spawn at both ends.

@therombaro2 жыл бұрын
Sort of… in Bedrock, there are MANY permanent slime chunks determined by the seed, and there are a lot of them. However there is an element of randomness to it. I'm going to be watching this video closely because I have discovered, right around where I set up my base in the Vault Hunters world, two lines of 3 slime chunks touching at a corner. I've already done most of the work in setting up the sextuple-chunk slime farm, I just need to finish digging up to the surface (without disturbing the farms and buildings above), and set up automatic collection. (For anyone using Xaero's Minimap in a modded world, finding slime chunks is as easy as setting and pressing a hotkey.) EDIT: I wonder if the big slimes require 4 blocks of space to spawn properly, even though they are 2 blocks tall. I don't have any explainable rationale behind this; all I have is this gut feeling, or sort of built-in logic, that the size of the slime equals the amount of space one needs to spawn it. Edit to the edit: I wrote this a mere ten seconds of video time before a big slime was clearly seen spawning in the farm. Welp.

Also under the lush cave there is another big ravine type deepslate cave which lots of slime was spawning.

Fun fact: you can also build a slime farm in swamps too
@Pixlriffs2 жыл бұрын
Swamp based slime farms are a tricky proposition. Slimes in swamps have to spawn in complete darkness, which 'cave slimes' don't - so a slime farm in a swamp is basically a general mob farm with extra slime. Slimes also don't spawn on a full moon, and only reach their maximum spawn rate on a full moon, so the farm won't produce any slime on 1/8 nights.

@BakedPretzel I don’t know anything about that. But as long as the slimes are in the overworld, they’re counted in the mob cap. Only when they go through the portal are they removed. Mostly framing that as an example for people who wanted to build these in their own worlds, and wouldn’t have a problem digging out the ceiling. But also, it’s worth digging it out to Bedrock just so the player can AFK there. It’s easier to get better spawn rates for the farm when the lower half of the 128-block spawning radius around the player is below bedrock. Nothing spawns in the void, so you only have to worry about spawn-proofing the spaces above you.

This is built in a single player world and the mobs don't despawn when they teleport to the Nether. On multiplayer servers, having another player in the Nether can cause issues for the farm, since the game will detect if that player is over 128 blocks from the mobs, and *then* they'll despawn. Great video once again bubba! Here's a question for ya, and you might know since it is for Bedrock edition, but when I am playing minecraft on Xbox, how can I see the slime chunk borders? There isnt a debug mode on xbox.

Once you've found an area with slime, you could always confirm your slime chunk coordinates on Chunkbase (which will give you a good idea of the coords for the chunk borders). Alternatively, do some maths! Chunks begin around the 0,0 coordinate at the centre of the world. So if your coordinates are divisible by 16, you're standing at the corner of a chunk. From that point, you can trace the boundaries of your chunk by drawing a 16x16 box facing away from spawn.

Petition to get Minecraft youtubers to put a J or B after the update number to represent java and bedrock so people can instantly know what version it's on

So (J 1.18 let's play) or (B 1.18 let's play)

@@hssnd777 He's playing on Java and it's easy to spot if it's on Java or Bedrock.

@@biryanilover7147 I already know that but when I first started watching tutorials and that I'd build it all just to find out it was java or bedrock only it's more of a clarification for people who don't know by the looks of the game

Ideally, if you were able to light up every dark space in a 128 block radius, 24 blocks away from the vertical centre of the farm. More practically, probably as low as possible in the world - because that eliminates a lot of spawnable spaces above the player, since nothing can spawn in the void

As far as I know slime occurs most during the full moon, maybe the day is not good for your farm?
@Pixlriffs2 жыл бұрын
This is only the case with slimes spawned on the surface in Swamp biomes. Cave slimes operate on a different set of spawning rules.

I still don't understand why people have to copy other peoples comments, as if they thought of it first.
