Thank you Katie, this was so helpful. I've used mapcrunch once but didn't know how to navigate through it. I appreciate your clear instruction, demonstration, and how how transfer your views into images for your sketchbook. Love the mix of panel pages and full spreads. I so enjoy your work. Now, to get "traveling" and begin to play and create.

You are the second person I’ve watched who uses Mapcrunch….I’m going to have to try it! I live in a rural area which is nice, but it might be fun to get some city scenes and different types of architecture. Going to need to get a scetch book just for mapcrunch

Very useful...me being one of the people who keeps asking about map crunch 😆 I've always used it on a laptop so maybe it's better to zoom around on a tablet 🤔

Haha it's a great suggestion!! I usually use my computer for Mapcrunch/Google Maps but I couldn't work out how to record without screen lines and I didn't want to do a screen recording 😂

Thanks for demystifying Map Crunch! I was having a hard time navigating the site. Can I ask which sketchbook you are using ? It seems like a good size and able to handle lots of mediums. Thanks.
@KatieMoody Жыл бұрын
No problem at all, so glad it was useful! Of course, I use the Royal Talens Art Creations sketchbooks! They handle a lot of mixed media really well and are affordable so I'm not precious in them! 🤗
@Jane-ny7wb Жыл бұрын
Thanks for getting back. I have yet to try Royal Talens but it sounds like the perfect sketchbook for what I am looking for. I want to use mixed medium and I agree when sketchbooks or paper are less expensive it's easy to experiment and not be precious.@@KatieMoody

The problem I have with Google Street view is that the camera is really too high, so it makes one look down on the landscape, rather than see it as you would if you stood there yourself. This can be problematic particularly for views close to the road. Not that it stops me from extensively using Google Earth for reference material. :-)
@KatieMoody24 күн бұрын
Yes it definitely adds some challenges! And often there is just so much road that I try to avoid in my images 😄

At first I was like ‘wow, just imagine Katie opened some random ugly urban view and now she thinks your country looks totally like that’ And right that moment you opened my country. Of course, it was the ugliest view you can ever imagine 💀
@KatieMoody7 ай бұрын
Oh this made me laugh so much 🤣 That's the only thing with this method -- it's not a great representation of a whole country 😅
