One of the most important steps while you are trying to get your Canada PR via Express entry program is to figure out what is your NOC? While some can find their NOC code very easily for others this could be a daunting task. So in today’s video we will see what exactly is NOC and how to find our best possible match.
So basically, NOC or The National Occupational Classification is the national reference for occupations here in Canada, and they use this system to classify jobs. The basic principle on which this classification is done is the kind of work performed. Can you believe that NOC is so extensive that there are around 30000 job titles out there? So when we speak in terms of immigration, the job groups that we are interested in are Skill type 0, Skill levels A, B, C and D and under these job groups you have a total of 500 NOC codes to pick from. And if you are specifically looking for immigration through the 3 express entry programs of FSW, FST and CEC then your NOC code should fall under skill type 0 or skill level A and B. If in case your NOC code belongs to skill level C or D, you cannot apply for express entry; however, you would still be eligible to immigrate to Canada. It could be through AIP program which accepts skill type 0 and skill levels A, B and C. Or you can opt for PNP program which accepts all skill type and levels. Or the alternate option would be to come to Canada on work permit and work here for up to 2 years, and later on you can apply to PR.
We will be next going to the official website and will look at how to find our NOC and what are the important things to look out for. But before that I do want to tell you that do not rely on a third person to find your NOC code because only you would know what kind of work you do and whether it will match or not with the description of the NOC code that you choose. Choosing the right NOC code is one of the crucial steps in obtaining PR and if you make any mistakes in this, there are high chances of your application getting rejected. I will talk more about the relevance of finding the correct NOC code which matches with your reference letter later on in this video. Also guys in our case, although we had a consultancy to help us out with the process, they did not actually tell us what our NOC codes were, instead they asked us to find it by ourselves. So through this video you can learn how to find your NOC code, but ultimately there’s no easy way out here. You will have to spend a good amount of time going through the various relevant NOC codes matching your job experience, and you will have to decide which one to go for. On that note let’s get this video started.
