Also, Casting Frontier is very helpful as well. My agent submits me but they have ALOT of high paying professional work. Im not too sure if its for people starting out since ive only used it since having representation, but if your looking for paid work, thats a great tool. Also, CastItTalent is another useful website.

Just bs your in, ik it sounds like a terrible plan, but it is the best you can do. When your auditioning, your not really auditioning. Everyone else is trying to audition by doing what they say, and building themselves around the character. DO NOT DO THAT, because you WILL be like everyone else. Build the character around you, in another sense bs a little. Make it look like you and the auditioners are working together to create the character to suit you. I came in to the auditions with spiral gaudeges. They asked me why I had earings on? I told them that i felt like the character would have spiral gadges. They looked at each other on surprise. They are too used to seeing people ass kiss, and do everything they say to get the role. So they were truly surprised when I started to make the character like me. Hope this helps, I know it might be a year late, but everything counts

I was registered on a few of the sites in LA they were great! At that time I had a couple of agents. Then I moved to the Twin Cities which was extremely different market. Those sites werent being used to look for auditions having an agent was a plus. I just moved to Chicagoland and am trying to learn about this market. Which sites do you feel work best in this area? I am also seeking representation as well. Thank you Carmen Campbell-Villalobos
@ChrisAgosActor6 жыл бұрын
Welcome to Chicago! Pick up a copy of the book Acting In Chicago because it has everything you need to get started there, including how to get and keep an agent. It's on Amazon and iTunes. Also, actorsaccess and castingnetworks.com are a must in Chicago, even if you don't yet have an agent. Also, like the Acting In Chicago page on FB to read about stuff going on in your new market.

Thank you had no idea this market uses actorsaccess and castingnetworks! So happy to hear. Yes I heard of the book Barnes and Noble didnt have it so will order on line. Thank you for answering so quickly.

Depends on the agency but in general agents are an excellent choice in Chicago and will provide you with more opportunities than you can get on your own. There's an entire chapter on agents in the book Acting In Chicago. You can get it on Amazon.

I been applying to a casting agency in my state every three months sent pictures too and herd nothing. No phone call nor email. Should I keep trying or move on to another agency.
@ChrisAgosActor5 жыл бұрын
Well, hard to say. Definitely apply to several at the same time, that way if one isn't interested, another might be. Also, you should be applying to talent agencies, not casting offices. Those are two different things. Agents represent actors. Casting directors find actors by contacting talent agents.
@angieang265 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisAgosActor my mistake was a talent agency I keep applying to in my state. The thing is there aren't alot of talent agencies where I live. Only one where they don't ask you to take acting classes. And the other one here want you to take acting classes at their agency first and go to workshops in new York and pay for that too.
@ChrisAgosActor5 жыл бұрын
@@angieang26 So I would definitely stay away from the "agency" that pushes classes and workshops in NYC as a condition for being represented by them. The other one is going to be your best bet. If you are submitting a professionally done head shot and resume then you should keep trying every month for a few months. No response means they can't use you at this time. Take a couple months off then try again because talent pools shift and change all the time.
@angieang265 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisAgosActor I will try again in a few months. I. Live in Arkansas and there is only one talent agency that book people without classes. They want people to resubmit every three months. This is my second time resubmitting photos. I will try again in a few months.

Is Central Casting Still a good place to where you can move up on or will i have to move myself to a different agency?
@ChrisAgosActor5 жыл бұрын
@@Sorelas You'll need a different agency to get speaking roles. To step up to those, you'll need a headshot, resume, training, and agent, and you'll need to be available to work and audition during daytime hours. Acting is, in fact, a day job. You can learn quite a lot of the basics of the business from a book I wrote: amzn.to/2N2wn1U
