HOW TO FIND PIPELINE WORK

I got in by literally stayin at a weld supply in Midland, TX from open to close. Asking every rig welder i seen pull in. Until Literally 15min before they closed one welder hooked me up with a helper job 🤙🏽

Retired Pipeline welder here, Pull up to jobs and yards (no jobs around you?) Call every place you can that’s hiring any kind of oilfield work doesn’t have to be pipeline because getting any oilfield work on your resume goes a long way! Facebook, talk to people, be a cool guy and nice easy to get along with. If you are a quiet person who doesn’t like to socialize and crack jokes and take things lightly pipeline is NOT for you TBH!! You want to be everyone’s friend but also want to be known as a hard worker who doesn’t slack off and always shows up! Really hard to find a good hand nowadays.

What about getting on fab jobs? Sure it’s easier out here in west Texas just wondering on ways to go about that. Hitting up oil companies directly or construction companies that they hire to build their facilities? I’m a mechanic in oil and gas but definitely want to try my hand at some welding jobs. I'm a teamster driver and it always seems hard to find the next gig and especially where the jobs are going on, let alone drive to a yard in other state. I would think there would be some kind of state to state call center or website to make it easier to locate work across the county and just call them to see if they need any skilled workers, any 1 ton, 2 ton, bus, stringer, float, water truck drivers and so on. Welders, welder helpers, Laborers. So how do you find where jobs are currently going on across the country is the question if your a traveler like most of us to continue working year round if you like and don't mind being out of your home state....????

Talk about welding school and how they aren’t teaching real world situations you face in the field. Gaps you gotta learn to fill in all the little tips and tricks you can use as welders. They are lacking in the real world situations welders face
