It's really interesting to look at this now from the "perspective" of non-duality. Music, my whole life, has been doing this for me. I've had several "experiences" when I was younger where I "became" the sound (especially when I had my eyes closed), even to an extent where the idea of space completely collapsed and I felt like I was one with everything. A bit later in life, I struggled a lot with panic attacks and episodes of depersonalization (which Shinzen Young puts as "Enlightenments Evil Twin", and I totally agree, it's like a periodic glimpse into no self, and you can't seem to escape it, and the mind starts being so scared). This was also one of the biggest fears or fixations for me: the fear of disappearing or waking up from the matrix. But there was always something in me that, when I experienced this in a meditation, etc., wondered what was "behind" it. Well I can tell you now it's everything and no thing.

“The sense of Being someone…can be dropped right now completely and the sound remains. The sound is freedom, absolute freedom, because it’s not contingent upon anything at all. It’s not contingent on an ear or hearing or a hearer or a sound maker…it’s pure, simple, innocent…can you hear…the whole universe (buzzing…humming…ringing)?…And that one sound is every sound in the environment because it doesn’t filter, it doesn’t hold back, it doesn’t hesitate, it obliterates everything, endlessly letting go…so what’s left? Just the sound. Couldn’t get any closer…intimate…empty…full…Infinite contact, Infinite release…your constant lover…constant reminder of formlessness, peace and freedom…Infinite contact, Infinite release. Just that sound.” 🙏🏼🤯💥 🐇 🕳🙏🏼

Your videos are priceless Angelo. Letting go feels almost exactly as it did the first time you ride a bike, it's that childish fascination of novelty and freedom. You think you'll fall and yet balance and gravity somehow carry you as if magically. It's awesome that reality does exactly the same if held in open attention! :0)

The importance of using sound as a gateway to awareness is beautiful. Just a snippet from my life: I started college 5 months ago and right now I’m at home for a break with the worst and longest cold that’s heavy on my sinus, for the SECOND time. And I’ve never had a cold in the past 2 years. And only during this time I was exposed to sooo many chaotic sounds and endless conversations that I did not put my full attention and wasnt fully present in with all kinds of people because I live on campus in a hostel. And no matter how aware I would be, I would automatically approach any situation that involved a person through my solid identity. I listened and listened and listened. And all that got saved up in my sinuses because I wasnt used to so many conversations in the past few months before college. I can’t explain but the feeling is instinctual. And bringing my attention on it without thought is definitely very very helpful. I feel like I’m actually truly listening to all those conversations saved up in my sinuses… and they are not unconscious anymore. I should probably go back to that.

Among all the sense gates, hearing (sound) seems to be the easiest for me to melt into and experience non-duality ( for intermittent moments, at least) and the vision field being the most challenging one... why is that?
@SimplyAlwaysAwake Жыл бұрын
I tho k it’s bc the visual field requires so much brain processing. Also it is really where the dualistic construct is maintained.

Pure hearing (is that what it's called?) has been such a mystery to me, I've been having more luck with seeing. Then, maybe 3 days ago, I was waiting for my little boy to come out of his classroom, and everything got incredibly still... I was transfixed on a spiderweb and the patterns of moss and bark on a tree. Suddenly a dog barked. Just once. There was no 'dog', there was no 'bark', there was no 'where'. Just the sound. Whoah. Almost immediately started taking notes! 😂😂😂

When you’re awake, it is easier for the brain to be overstimulated and overwhelmed by stimuli in the environment?
@SimplyAlwaysAwake Жыл бұрын
Interesting question perhaps I’ll make a video about that.
@amandatrouette8455 Жыл бұрын
To me I feel the more I wake up the more sensitive I am to other people and their energy. I get very overwhelmed with love or compassion in big groups especially. Also I do feel that my body sensations are very distracting. Just feeling like a big cloud of sensations all the time is sooooo cool. It’s just soooo soooo interesting at times I get sucked into it.
@SimplyAlwaysAwake Жыл бұрын
@@amandatrouette8455 I think it’s quite typical after awakening to go through what you are describing. I’ll be brief but ultimately the solution is to go in deeper and without reservation. The sense forked will overtake you at sone point and then overwhelm is impossible bc there’s nothing apart anymore. There is a different kind of adjustment at that point. You might wish you could still have overwhelm but it’s no longer available so the only way forward is fully dying into the experience again and again. Might sound bad but only to the degree that we try to fight it. It becomes quite ecstatically ordinary at some point 😍

@@SimplyAlwaysAwake When I moved from the country to the city, I had a terrible time adapting to all the noise and sights. I had migraines for weeks because I was overstimulated. Sirens felt like a mild electric shock and used to make me cry. I've adapted of course. Now, when someone makes a normal sound in the meditation hall I jump because it seems so loud when I'm relaxed -- like it's right beside me. I've discovered that aside from when I'm meditating I'm constantly braced against sound and other sensory stimuli. When I relax it's way too loud and overwhelming... it hurts Not sure what to do about this. I've had very bad tinnitus since I was a kid and I'm very good at ignoring it too. I've been in sound baths with crystal bowls that were unbearable. It wasn't the sound it was the vibrations they caused in my body. It felt like an electric shock. I couldn't stay.

You say "the more we wake up..." but I thought awakening is supposed to be instantaneous, that once you see it you can't unsee it. There's also reports of people awakening then going back to before and re-seeking the awakening they had. A lot of contradictions
@philipp176 Жыл бұрын
Yesterday I also thought about this issue. It’s indeed paradoxical. The recognition of the non-dual nature is timeless, now - And complete in itself, because it is seen that there is nothing else. However, simultaneously the body-mind-conditioning has a momentum that tends to make us identify with beliefs again. So while the non-Dual recognition is timeless, it appears to be that simultaneously there is a deepening through inquiring into believes, contractions and repressions 😶🌫️🤯

Ian, it is definitely progressive, IMHO. As are most endeavors in life. Winning your first game of chess doesn’t make one a grandmaster, but it is a requirement. Lol. Don’t expect to “get there or arrive.” Allow it to unfold on its own. Peace.
