Lilienthal (Andor) brings us the very useful "damn the torpedoes" state of mind. So, we risk material loss, knowing the opponent has more urgent matters at hand. Many thanks for this elegant game. Your work is much appreciated here!

A great analysis and a great classic, also reminded me how USSR produced a slew of top chess players, Botvinnik himself of course being one of them, and a world champion at that. There were no easy preys at the top Soviet level. A brilliant play by Lilienthal, the way he controlled the game against one of the best positional players deserves attention.

That was a beautiful game by Lilienthal, who made Botwinnik look pretty old here. Thank you for featuring this classic game!

21:15 deadly attack. These grandmasters are orange squeezers. That’s not a pulp fiction statement, it’s an icecold fact! Unpleasantly Frozen functionless pieces !

Excellent explanation of all the chess options and why .only wish I could play and remember the examples instead of mostly blundering. At 72 returning to the game six years ago has been engaging thanks mainly the change of notation now so simple to follow. If there was one thing you would recommend me to do to improve my chess playing what would it be ?

Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed the explanation. If I had to recommend one thing to improve your play, I’d suggest focusing on consistent tactical training-solving puzzles daily helps sharpen pattern recognition and reduces blunders. Also, reviewing your own games, even briefly, can make a big difference in spotting recurring mistakes and learning from them.

Thank you ,I will try your suggestion regarding tactical training as mostly every day I am doing chess puzzles only.I do review my games as well replaying them hopefully my errors will be less in the future .
