A excellent investing education podcast and Henry gave a excellent introduction about dividends and please be careful about chasing high yields which could be yield traps and look for companies with progressive dividend growth and Compounding is the secret sauce for successful investing and i got the tee shirt of chasing High yield Investment trusts and companies. Please be careful of Chancellor plans to allow small investors to buy shares in private companies. I know from experience the safest way to invest in private companies is through investment trusts. About 27 years ago i lostall my money by investing in a small Welsh company and i use my heart to invest because it was a Welsh Company and the Company staff told me it be bigger than Vodafone and a expensive lesson learned stay away from private companies but investment trusts are a safe way for small investors to access private companies. @@conkerscorner7143 Hey Peter, Historically they've been BATS.L, RIO.L and UPM.HE. To the present day, MONY.L and EVO.ST. I'm always scanning the UK markets for my future dividends. No withholding tax is a good feature.
