Very cool. Yes, handy as I do covers. So I bring them in as reference tracks. If the original recording's tempo drifts, is there a way in REAPER to mark its transients and then stretch or move the recordings transients to match the closest tempo? So:1. Import reference track.2. Get tempo as close as I can using process you describe, but then, if it drifts..3. Find reference tracks transients and drag to nearest tempo marker?
@DoctorMcFarlandStudios7 жыл бұрын
Fezzler61 yes. Place a tempo change at the start of the drift and just find the new tempo. This is called making a tempo map and it may be needed from time to time. Thanks for watching.

I'm doing a cover and programming midi but I've hit a road block with a tempo change that's made it really hard to figure out where the midi notes need to be. Don't know if it's a recent thing with Reaper, but if you highlight a measure (like you did) and then hover over the 'selection time' info at the bottom right (selection start, selection end, selection time), a help text appears suggesting likely BPM. Handy for when the BPM isn't a whole number.

Most of it has been done its just there is soooo much its hard to find what your looking even if you know what key words to search with. If you really know the program well I would like to see a complete journey of a Reaper track (good name). Certainly not without editing haha. If some just sat down to either record,edit and master or just edit and master and recorded the big moves of a track that would kick ass. Im currenty trying to use one of the extra buttons on my mouse to be able to scroll up and down on the TCP. As it is now it just widens the TCP (I hate keyboard shortcut is why). Hmm a complete chapter on convenience hasnt been done.

David De Menezes/Anuraag Gawhale Project hmmm that is a good question. Just keep typing in the bpm until you get it lined up. If the lines are getting closer to the downbeat of your wav then you know you are getting in the ballpark and the fine tune it till it is exact.

David De Menezes/Anuraag Gawhale Project you can also add a marker on the downbeat of measure two so you have a reference where your tempo will line up to.

Hi there, I'm having a lot of trouble lining up the acapella track to Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd and keep in mind I am never a fan of re-recordings ever, however I have a BIG request for you. can you at least try using these 2 tracks the full mix and the acapella, line it up, and invert that acapella with the full mix once lined up as close as possible. can you do that for me if you know what I mean? Also, I'm new to youtube, and I don't know how to send these track to you, so can I send it through your email please?

Andycowboy322 why would you want to do this? What is the ultimate goal?
@cowboy3284 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios Okay So Basically I'm trying remove vocals from a song, using an acapella to invert with the full mix of the song once it's aligned with the full mix that has the vocals in it already. Also, I know what your thinking and I promise to you removing vocals from a song which a lot people say is impossible, but However if you have the acapella to a song and line it up at the right tempo as the main mix's tempo, and when you invert it the song's vocals will be taken out in a finger snap. Also, please don't send me any! re-recordings of Free bird, and don't send me a version that is the original that's already online because it doesn't sound exactly the same as the final mix of free bird with the vocals in it.
@cowboy3284 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios I'm not trying to be rude, but I hate! re-recordings of this song specifically, and most of the versions online don't sound like the original at all because since you did this video it was so good that I think it's time you actually need to do this as a because I've tried it so many times that I can't stand this song's vocal track inside of the mix itself.

Hi from Spain. Thanks for the explanation! The problem is when the bpm's change slightly along the song. I dont know why. Maybe due to the compress or render process or something like that. This sometimes happens (at least in drumless songs which are the ones I use to practice). Any solution? Thanks again!
@DoctorMcFarlandStudios7 жыл бұрын
Greetings. My band Feedback Revival tour Europe back in 2014 and played 10 shows in Spain. It was beautiful. If you find that the tempo drifts through the song and you want to keep that intact then you just need to keep adding tempo markers and readjust the tempo. I had to do this on a project last year. I had to create a tempo map for the whole song basically but it did make it easier to record to. Let me know if you have any more questions.
@dvdzuco7 жыл бұрын
Yes. Coruña, Ourense,... ;) And you were already in Spain in 2013, i think! Cangas, no? I hope you've enjoyed in my country. what concerns to tempo drifts, i've done it in a couple of songs, adding tempo markers and readjusting the tempo but it tooks me a lot of time (more than 4 hours per song........).

You have the session set to beats instead of time. Go to project settings and change it. Time changes the grid behind the tracks. Beats changes the speed of the tracks themselves.
