Just recently purchased from Peter Manning for the first time purchased a sweater in size 4 but was to small so got a 2x and fits better ordered a pair of chinos so hopefully they fit good. On a side note they are very slow on refunds been 9 business days already and have not received my refund yet. Not happy with that.

​@@40OverFashionMy biggest problem is I'm short(5'6") and muscular. Especially have a difficult time purchasing dress shirts, because my neck size doesn't match my sleeve length. LOL LOL I wear a 18" neck with 32/33 sleeves and it's hard to find those dimensions off the rack. LOL

Well, for clothes from other brands it's still recommended to get really well acquainted with a very good tailor. The better ones will make your pants, shirts, and even knitted clothes look custom made.

I used to dress awfully when I was younger, until I discovered Peter Manning. Honest to God, I'm not a bot or someone paid to write this. I'm 5 6 1/2 and I used to wear clothes that looked too big, and sloppy. I remember watching a video about how short men should dress, and that's when I discovered Peter Manning. They are not perfect (some of their clothes should be a little longer in my opinion), but they are mostly an excellent brand. I recommend their stretch chinos and field jackets, they are superb.

I'm 5'8 and 196lbs, so I'm a bit bulk. Do work out makes me look a bit wider, shoulders, and bigger bíceps need some large shirts or medium all depends.

Excellent! When I bought suits from stores with tailors on staff or referral, I learned to be fitted/measured with usual EDC in pockets. You can’t expect to look like a movie character who pulls whatever is needed from well-fitting clothes, but you shouldn’t look lumpy either. At 5’10”, 160# maybe I should check out your sponsor, although I don’t have much trouble off-the-rack and some tailoring. Fit can be surprisingly tricky. I learned I can’t fit into Italian cuts - arm holes don’t work for me.

Useful video. Fitting is really important, and for that you have to find brands that's fit you. Sometimes some brands are not for your body type, while with some others you feel it's made for you. I agree that slim fit is the best, but sometimes I like skinny fit for jeans, even if I'm not anymore a teenager.

I wear slim fit denims and nice dress shirts. im a bit bulky, so I wear medium-sized or large, depending on the type of long sleeve. keep the good work, john and waiting for the vid for us bold guys. What type of clothes make us look good😅.

I have a very hard time finding off the rack long sleeve shirts that fit. I’m 5’8 165lbs with really broad shoulders. The shirts are either too tight in the shoulders or too long in the sleeves. It’s gotten to the point that I have to skip shoulder day so that I can fit into a my medium long sleeve with the sleeves rolled up. If I go up to a large it looks like I’m wearing a bag everywhere but in the shoulders.

I wear my jeans longer for the simple reason I like to cuff my jeans when I wear them. I also like to stack them if I'm wearing cowboy boots. It's a look I like. I'm not a fan of rolling my jeans or doing the pinwheel roll with my jeans.

Im 6’3” 195lbs Its just as hard to find good fitting pants that dont need to be tailored 34 is too tight 36 could be too big depending on the manufacturer Banana republic is the only place i found 35 waist Any suggestions would be appreciated

The big problem with off the rack for myself as a guy with a smaller waist is that everything now is slim fit, which is fine as I prefer a little slim/tapered over straight fit, but when you get to my size they are so slim you might as well be wearing women's leggings. I'm quite athletic, but that doesn't mean I want skin-tight trousers.

Oh my goodness, the rise has been such an issue for me! I have given away so many pairs of trousers/jeans/pants as I thought they were fine, until the labels are cut off, the receipts are long lost, and I look like U can't touch this!!!!!

Hi John, thanks for this video. I am same height and weight as you (5’9”, 170lb). My challenge is finding jackets that hit just below my belt line, as I have noticed that when my whole leg line (including butt) is visible below jacket, my profile looks more balanced. A jacket too long makes me look shorter and more bulky. Any thoughts on outerwear lengths?

Pre-apoologies for using politicians for examples, but Kevin McCarthy's suits look really good on him. They seem to be roomy but not baggy. Would you (or others) guess that this is because he is particularly slim (not sure about that at all) or is this a specific kind of suit cut or fit? How might I replicate this look? (I'm 6'2, 190) To my eye it's much more attractive than Josh Hawley, who looks like a sausage in a too-small casing when he wears a suit.

Try a brand with different fit options, not just different sizes. To be able to wear a tie I had to switch from a regular XL to a slim fit XXL. I found out that the shoulder width and sleeve length also got better on me.

Sorry dude. you have no idea what very odd sized guys have to deal with. You talk about 5' 9" 172 lbs. as if it's unusual. What about 5' 7" 210 lbs and 25.5" inseam, 31" sleeve, 17" neck and 42" waist? How do you find a fit for that without a custom tailor and even then, the shoulders are too broad in a shirt and the pants are too baggy. What to do about this?

Get a tailor. Buy nice material, not nice labels. Absolutely every pair of pants needs hemmed, your legs aren’t perfectly even, neither are your arms probably either.
