Hi, can the land owner hire a consultant and then becomes owner builder by hiring subcontractors to complete each stage of the construction according to the final working drawings and under the supervision and with the approval of the consultant? Given the abundance of tradies in Dubai, don’t you think that an attentive owner can build himself if a professional consultant is hired?

You need to have a licensed building contractor in order to receive a building permit in dubai from the authorities and hence you can’t build your self yes you can choose your sub contractors etc but you’ll need a main contractor

@@tahirmajithia Thank you Tahir. So can we engage a main contractor on paper (minimal fees) and then carry on with the construction with our own selected subcontractors? Does the main contractor rule apply in Ajman as well?
