Good video on describing the various sizes. It should be noted that the mass of the tremolo block (not shown) greatly affects sustain and tone. I noticed that on the guitars shown, each had steel wool debris on the pickup magnets. Steel wool is a good way to polish the frets, but you have to be careful the particles don't attach themselves to the pickup magnets. I've seen several good sets of pickups destroyed by metal debris finding its way into the coil windings. Be sure to use bar soap on the wood screws when replacing them--it lubricates and keeps the wood from splitting.

I was able to take your info on the AM vintage narrow bridge and finally figure out what I need for my strat. The string saddle spacing is less than the bridge to body screws. This should get my strings on the fretboard. Thanks.

very useful. However needs to consider also the depth of the tremolo block because the thickness of the body may vary. Affinity Squier for istance should have body thickness of 38mm while the ClassicVibe should be 44mm

Thanks. I just acquired a used mim stratocaster from CL for a great price. I found out that the guy had tapped the block for a non fender tremolo arm ( unsuccessfully I might add). So I need a new block and the correct arm. The whole MIM assembly is the best thing. I'm considering the gotoh/ wilkenson.

Dude have you checked the neck relief of this guitar? I repair and setup guitars for a living. There is no chance in hell for those saddles to be that low with the bridge not floating. What would they look if you float the bridge 1/8 inch like they recommend. How would you lower them to compensate the rise of the bridge. Not even with the bridge up 1/8 inch they still should be looking like that. No way!! Dude they are stupid low. First put your neck at .010 then all the strings at 4/64 at the 17th fret. If they are I'll at the same height in relation to the fret that has the neck radius you will automatically have perfect radius in the end.

+MaxGuitarVids. Ok, I bought a sanded down MIM Stratocaster Body. Now the Bridge mounting screws have to be #6x1" & not #6x1 1/4" because they would screw through the rear cavity. Now the other issue I'm having. The bridge plate won't completely cover the Tremolo block opening. The issue is right where the Tremolo Arm is at. You know how the bridge plate has that tab where the Trem Arm screws into? If I install a Fender Stratocaster 2 1/16th" bridge kit on this body, when facing the body & the body standing up, there is a 1/8" gap at the top right corner of the tremolo opening. However, if I was to use a Squier bridge mounting plate/Tremolo, because the Squier is a bit larger, it covers the Tremolo opening in the body completely. So is there different size Bridge mounting Plates, or is it just the Squier Bridge/Tremolo kit & the Fender Standard Bridge/Tremolo Kit? I mean the body is 1 3/4" thick & that's with it sanded down to the wood. I'm just wondering if the guy I bought it from actually bought a Squier Special Edition Strat without knowing that he did because he bought it used & it was painted Black so while he owned it he tried to paint it Red but gave up on it because the paint job didn't look too great once he sanded off the original Black color. I also had a couple other things, I sanded the Neck Well a bit & I was able to expose some Light Red bold font numbers along with the date, which looked like it read NOV 03 & either 19x9 or 199x. It's hard reading the last 2 numbers.....

I am looking to Replace by 6-Screw Bridge & Trem System on my 78 Stratocaster. I want to Float my Tremolo ( no divebombs ) just Nice Flutters. I need a Solid & Stable Trem Bar ( not the Fender Flimsy Screw-In - which Strips and becomes Loose !!! I am so confused as there are: Super Vee Bladerunner, Wilkinson, Sophia 2:22 ( which I love ), Vega Trem VT-1 Ultra Trem ( also very nice ), Hipshot, Kahler, Callaham & Gotoh - Any Input from the Guitar Community is Much Appreciated.

Highwood contoured saddles fix this problem. Their grub screws do not protrude. Expensive at 50 USD. Alternatively, grind down the bottom of each grub screw once your action is set.

Hello! I have a 2007 Fender Highway One with 2 7/32 mounting spacing and 2 1/16 String spacing. Can I replace this bridge with a vintage spec bridge that have 2 7/32 mounting and string spacing? I'm no longer using the humbucker so i wont need the narrower string spacing to fit the humbucker pole pieces. My current setup is SSS. Thanks in advance!

Anyone getting 2 1/4 for both measurements? Trying to figure out what bridge to replace mine with.
@-Rambi-4 жыл бұрын
And the string spacing, the block depth and staggered/non staggered string holders in the block. Strat tremlo measurements are a mess throughout the years, it doesn't help that most online retailers don't write these measurements. Regarding that Squier, it doesn't have a full size body which means that the block will be too long. Guitar fetish sells tremlo that fits these narrow body Squire/Asian copies. And seeing that comments last forever, If anyone is looking for a new trem for a Squier SE than that has the narrow string/bolt spacing while at the same time having a full size body.

I have a 2018 fender 50s stratocaster made in Mexico. It came with a older 6 screw pivoting synchronize tremelo Can I take a american vintage synchronize tremelo and replace it? The made in Mexico is just potted metal the same thing they put on squires. The american is a bigger block as well the thin block is for cheaper fenders.

The thing that you should be asking yourself is why doesn't Fender put decent hardware on their guitars and why should you have to replace it? Just buy an actual Strat copy that come with decent hardware like Vintage brand Guitars etc. The wood is the same anyway.

+MaxGuitarVids. Hi, actually I have a question for you. I bought a Strat that I finished sanding so I can custom paint it, also I just purchased a [I'm hoping] Fender Classic 50's Strat in Shoreline Gold. Beautiful body however, these two Bodies have the same issue. The 2 1/16" Bridge /Tremolo & on the Classic 50's Strat, 2-Post Bridge/Tremolo when put on, I can see a gap in the Trem Block cutout. The gap is just above the part of the Bridge Plate where the Tremolo Arm would screw into. The gap is about 4mm long x 2mm wide. I'm just wondering if these two sellers either sold a Squier Body, or some off brand Stratocaster style body, since Squier parts do cover this gap because those Bridge Plates are a bit larger in that area. Thanks, Dan

If your plate is stock, you should just be able to buy the appropriate block for the model you have (MIA, MIM, other import) and screw it on the back. I did this with my Callaham block on a MIM and it fit no problem. No measuring needed.
