I recommend bringing TWO water buckets! (instead of one) That way you can (quickly) make an infinite water source on the end island! You MIGHT not need it. Some things I try to keep in mind when going to The End and facing the Dragon for the first time: As so many other people are pointing out, empty bottles are a great way of dealing with the Dragon's Breath. I've learned to bring Ender Pearls with me, just in case the platform you spawn onto is separated from the main End Island. It's easier/quicker to throw a pearl than risk being knocked into the void by the dragon while bridging across. I will also leave some pearls in my Ender Chest in case I die during the battle and need to bridge that gap again to recover my stuff. Ender Pearls are also a decent way to deal with getting hit by the Ender Dragon for people like myself who are terrible at using the water bucket trick. My personal preference for bows has always been Mending, but when I go to The End for the first time, I take an Infinity Bow instead. That's not just for the battle with the dragon, it's also so I don't have to worry about running out of arrows when I raid the End Cities for the 1st time. I try to have a junky pickaxe to mine End Stone blocks, rather than risk losing a Silk Touch pick to the void. Since the Dragon doesn't destroy End Stone, I prefer to use that instead of pillaring up an End Spike with wood planks or scaffolding. On Bedrock, you can place scaffolding against the side of a block without there being a block that would support it. It's treated the same way as any gravity block, and will fall & land on a solid block. If you get hit by the dragon while against an End Spike, you can spam scaffolding to decrease the number of blocks you'll fall, thus reducing the damage you'll take.

The things I would recommend bringing that You didn't cover are a pickaxe to collect endstone, empty bottles to collect dragons breath( I always bring a full stack), a few extra boats to catch endermen in(be aware that this is not foolproof, endermen can walk over boats as well), a spyglass for that sweet advancement, and never take your best gear in for a dragonfight. One thing no one seems to be mentioning: Ender Pearls. If the obsidian platform generates away from the central island, an Ender Pearl can be thrown onto the island or against one of the obsidian pillars to quickly teleport the player onto the island. Throwing Ender Pearls can also save the player from a fall into the Void. An Infinity bow also enchanted with Flame works well against the End Dragon while it is flying but does not cause damage when the dragon is resting on the central pillar; for that a strong melee weapon is needed.
@wyrmh0le Жыл бұрын
Yep, pearls were the first thing I thought of when he asked if there was anything else that's good for the fight. It's great for getting to the island (bridging over the void with the dragon flying around is terrifying). Also, if you miss your throw and the pearl falls in the void it's no problem!

Things I bring with me; a bed, a bunch of wood to make chests (if I'm going to the end islands after), back up iron armor in case the worst happens and I get yeeted off the island into the void, usually some golden carrots for that sweet saturation, a water bucket (not for MLGing because I can't really do that well, more for enderman who I accidentally look at, a boat also works for this), and of course rockets for flying (again, only if I'm going to the end islands after), sometimes I put a mending/unbreaking book in my enderchest ready to go and an anvil too to add it right away.
@marieleelee Жыл бұрын
OHH I forgot IF you do go to the end islands and you end up bridging out, before you bridge out pillar up a few blocks and place a torch in the direction you came from. In case you bridge out, find nothing and decide to come back. You know where you already were. Pretty sure Pix already did this in the nether, it works in the end islands as well.
@StanliteStar283 Жыл бұрын
Water bucket is not 100% reliable to stop the enderman. Water in minecraft tends to flow towards the nearest hole or nearest lower level of the land. If the land is not flat enough to generate 8 block spreading diamond shaped water pool, the water will flow like a streamline. In this case, you will be unable to protect yourself from enderman. If you still want to use water, make sure that you do it in a nearly flat land. Instead, making 2 block height roof beforehand while fighting against the ender dragon is the most reliable way. In the dragon fight, enderman is more dangerous than the ender dragon.

My very first dragon fight went quite poorly, starting off with my second complete equipment wipe ever when I was pushed into the void while bridging from the platform to the island. I ended up killing the dragon in multiple runs with iron gear and a basic (maybe somewhat enchanted) bow. Once you reach the main island, chances to fall into the void go down a lot but not to zero. But what I'm trying to say is: Whatever you end up bringing with you in preparation of your first fight, leave your attachment to your gear at home.

One thing about Endermen is that water hurts them, that's why they're afraid of it. Water deals environmental damage to Endermen. Of course they'll keep their distance from a source of damage. As for the Ender Dragon fight preparation, gearing up is extremely important. I've seen fights where a group of people marched in naked with nothing but a wooden sword. Set their spawn inside the stronghold, and died over and over again, but eventually managed to kill the dragon. Yeah, that's a possibility as well. Hermitcraft Season 9 is where that happened I guess, very early into the game. It was more to make a fun content for us to watch.
@OrigamiMarie Жыл бұрын
Even if you're a really good Minecraft player, don't count on avoiding a void death in the End. One time, I arrived through the End portal before the terrain fully generated, and I dropped straight through where the spawning platform was supposed to be. The platform spawned just after I dropped through it, and I had no way to recover from falling into the void. Now I prepare with Slow Falling potions, ender pearls, and armor that I'm willing to lose. I also put most of my dragon fight supplies in my ender chest, place it when I arrive safely, and get the stuff out then. If you're good and quick (and / or already Slow Falling), you can throw an ender pearl to teleport and recover from getting dumped in the void.
@JimKayaker Жыл бұрын
Very good, so glad you got to show an unusual stronghold generation. My first one was so cut up by caves it didn't have 2 libraries, just 3 bookshelves and a few spider webs!. Things I do/bring that many will call unnecessary, but... empty bottles for dragons breath, make sure you are wearing the boots with feather falling on if you have different pairs, a stack of ladders in case I can't get an angle on one of the crystals (go up the back of adjacent pillar), a few ready crafted slabs to make a roof off a pillar 2 blocks high as somewhere else to run away from endermen, and hopefully the dragon, might be worth bringing a torch in case the 4 on the portal get lost during the fight, I lost one once. Spyglass can help finding end cities and portals, if your render distance is high enough, there is maybe a post dragon fight discussion to be had on render distance. Tips to avoid: bringing any blocks that endermen can move (dirt, gravel, sand) for bridging or marking where you have been, don't follow advice to bring iron blocks and carved pumpkins, whoever wrote that never actually tried it, ender men spawn faster than you can build golems and the chance of a golem hitting you by mistake is significant.

Ender Pearls are a less tight timed Water Bucket alternative, it will also save you if the dragon happens to throw you up in the air, and also above the void, just make sure you don't do a derp and manage to land a pearl at a wall with void below it. The dragon throwing you in the air is not as common from my experience, but you really need to act when it happens. Make sure you have your ender pearls/bucket in an accessible hotkey/slot to be able to switch to it at a moment's notice.

I find night vision potions are really handy as my vision isn't so good. The obsidian pillars being black, don't show up very well against the dark sky. Night vision makes the pillars look pink so they show up. My first dragon fight took nearly an hour cos I couldn't see the tops of the towers (or the dragon) against the sky, and I struggled to be able to hit the crystals, after the dragon yeeted me into the void, I geared back up and took night vision with me and the fight went much better after that 😄. I'd also recommend a flame bow so folks can see whereabouts their arrows are landing on the towers so they can adjust their aim. I normally take easily breakable solid blocks (moss is good) for pillaring up to get to the tops of the tallest towers... while scaffolding is fast to set up, it also collapses if the dragon flies through it, and if I'm near the top I don't want to be plummeting down from that high 🙂

scaffolding can be beneficial to get quickly to the top of an obsidian pillar for a flat bowshot trajectory to the other crystals; speed is still important, though, because the dragon will target you on the pillar and scaffolding
@herbalt Жыл бұрын
i see a couplie folks have already mentioned bringing a couple stacks of scaffolding; but to be more specific as to why, there will typically be a couple End Crystals that generate inside a cage of iron bars. depending on the height of the pillar they sit on and your skill with a bow, it is technically possible to thread the needle with your arrow and hit the End Crystal through the gap at the bottom of the cage. But the much easier option is just to scaffold up to the top and break the cage. I recommend stacking your scaffolding on the side of the pillar towards the outside of the ring so that it is a little less likely the dragon charges you, breaking the scaffolding and likely knocking you off (that's where slow fall pots come in super handy); but it is possible to time it right and scaffold up quickly to destroy the Crystal. also, as long as you have decent armor, you don't even have to go all the way up and break the cage. you can usually target the Crystal through the gap at the bottom of the cage and destroy it. you will just probably take a little bit of damage. and don't forget a torch to collect that dragon egg!

2 stacks of scaffolding to climb the obsidian pillars. I personally prefer scaffolding over something like dirt as it's easier to place, even if the Dragon can break it all the way up. 2 packs because you eventually lose some of it. Looting sword to get shulker shells after the fight. Ender pearls to teleport through the End Gates. A good pickaxe - always have one with you! I don't feel necessary to bring both Fortune and Silk Touch, I only bring the one I find it easier to replace in case of death. An extra shield, or an Unbreaking III & Mending shield. Defending when the Dragon charges towards you takes a lot of durability. An axe to break scaffolding on the way down and to break the crafting table after making wood slabs. Anvil, Unbreaking III and Mending books, 2 packs of fireworks to make the best use of Elytra as soon as you put your hands on it. Empty bottles to collect the dragon's breath. OBS: Bedrock mobile player here. YMMV

This is maybe a bit of a silly suggestion but a friend of mine (Vin_shoken) likes to bring jungle saplings, dirt and bonemeal. You can do a trick where you plant the saplings 2x2 on the dirt, throw an enderpearl directly up from the center of the saplings and then quickly bonemeal them to grow the tree before the enderpearl lands, so you end up teleporting on top of the tree where you can easily shoot the crystals. Of course the dragon can destroy the tree but you should have time to clear a few of the obsidian pillars before that. You could use a spruce tree for this too, but jungle trees have wider tops so I think they're better. And you can sometimes use the vines too.

Fun fact, a skeleton spawned exposed to a stronghold was poking out in a deep slate layer cave near a village I had found before I’ve even gotten the Eyes of End yet. Found the end portal and explored the stronghold using a navigation tool I’ve somewhat stolen and adapted slightly so I’ll share it for fellow players who have yet to get to the End, found the stronghold and wanted to loot it but not fight the ender dragon just yet: Use color coded blocks not found in the stronghold! Don’t use cobblestone or wood as it may blend into the stronghold and you’ll lose your way, it’s a bit of a maze of dead ends in there. For me I used random smooth variants of different blocks found in the normal top layer of caves and not the ones found in deepslate layer. Those being Smooth Diorite, Polished Tuff and Smooth Granite. When you first pop in and light the nearby vicinity you should break the stone bricks and replace them with Smooth Diorite. Use this to mark your exit, when you find a fork in the road you place 3 diorite and a torch in the middle to mark your way back to your entrance and exit. Place smooth tuff with smooth granite in the middle to mark paths you haven’t been to or explored yet. Once you’ve cleared the rooms or found a dead end and no end portal, replace the smooth granite with polished tuff to mark that you have already been there but don’t want to go back anymore. Find the end portal and mark the way back with diorite outlines till you create a path back and forth to the portal for future use mid-late game. Break all doors in the stronghold in dead ends and leave doors closed if you haven’t been there yet. Leave doors open if they are on your path to the end portal. Don’t block off libraries so you can come back for the cobwebs and bookshelves with shears and silk touch tools.

I had a stronghold generate with the End Portal room completely separated (by like 20 blocks) from the rest of the structure and sitting on the bottom of the ocean; easiest portal to find ever! This was in the first release where end portals would generate. The same world has a stronghold with no end portal because it was generated before The End was added to the game. Oh, also when they added Ocean Monuments it decided the area right next to the portal is where a monument would have been so Guardians started spawning there.

I usually just make sure that I have at least prot II on 3/4 of my armor and feather falling IV. I tend not to be able to handle phantoms too well so I can't make slowfalling potions easily. Mending on all tools and armor is also good since the dragon gives off enough exp to repair the damages done to the equipment.

Really good, I think you did great!

I would have added placing a bed in the stronghold with a chest beside it of back-up gear. For a first timer, don't bring all your best gear and rare items with you, only what you need. Bring empty bottles to gather dragon breath.

I think the Wiki is wrong about how good Golden Carrots are. Either that, or they are wrong about Steak/Porkchops. I haven't used mods or edited the game files to check out the actual values. But after personal testing, after letting my hunger fall just low enough for natural regeneration to stop, and then getting my HP to half a heart, I tested how much health I recovered from each food type. If the info on the wiki was accurate, the Golden Carrot should let you recover a bit more health than a Steak. But my test's results showed the exact opposite. So yeah, either the saturation values in the Wiki's chart is wrong, or the explanation on how regenerating health from burning saturation is wrong. And on another topic, in your preparations, you forgot to mention to bring plenty of empty bottles ^.^

Did you mention feather falling IV? I know you have it, but some people might not yet. Saved me plenty of times from the dragon throwing me in the air. Also enderpearls to break your fall, which might even save you from falling in the void if your reflexes are good enough

My first ever dragon fight went hilariously bad as my strategy backfired. I decided to be “smart” and tunnel under the end stone to each tower and then carve out a staircase inside each one to get to and destroy each crystal without the dragon being able to blast me. Only trouble is, the dragon can detect you through blocks and if it’s unable to blast you it repeatedly tries to body slam you until it can get to you with a fireball. So I was getting smashed against the walls of my tunnels nonstop until I eventually succumbed to damage and died.

I always get knocked off trying to pillar up for a caged crystal. I find scaffolding great for that.

grian had a small hardcore world with goodtimeswithscar and smallishbeans where he did try to fight the dragon with a trident and yes, he lost it into the void. i am a mending person myself so i do bring lots of arrows, but also make sure to bring bottles for scooping up the dragon's breath goop. i usually make sure i have a full stack of dragon's breath before even bothering to fight the dragon

i fought the ender dragon in my world just earlier this week and I brought some empty bottles along to collect the dragon's breath. What i wish i had brought was some firework rockets for when i finally got my elytra.

Take a couple of stacks of blocks or scaffolding (or both) for pillaring up the obsidian towers

I like to use ender pearls when I’m tossed into the air. Just throw one on the ground while in the air. Also useful if you are tossed over the void.

I like to bring a bit of TNT and a Flint and Steel to pillar up to the end crystals surrounded by Iron Bars, break in, place the TNT, light it, and then quickly break my way back down my pillar.

My way to fight the ender dragon: I bridge out to the outer islands (take some time and Material, but if you have Nethertunnels, you have enough blocks, but slabs also do a good job). Then I search an end city with ship. Take the elytras, and enchant it with unbreaking III (dont forget the book and an anvil). Pull out the rockets and go through the next transit portal and fight the dragon. IMO this much more fun. Only the long bridging is a little bit annyoing. I put all my gear in my enderchest except of a silktouch pickaxe while doing that.

I found a stronghold on my world and was exploring in it (was around -45) and as I got to this set of stairs I was running away from a creeper then suddenly hear a shriek and my screen goes black, I tried it again because I didn't know at the time strongholds could spawn inside deep dark biomes and hadn't tested shriekers out yet. After testing the weird noise out for 3 times I was looking on reddit and found out that if you heard that shriek 4 times the warden spawned so I crouched the hell out of there. scariest experience ever.

Sometimes strongholds spawn with secret rooms, which is why it was blocked off like that. It is not a glitch but an intended feature
