Oh! that was really interesting thankyou! I'm particularly interested in the notion of theme. I'm still very much finding my feet, finding my style and improving my skills. I suppose if there's a theme to my art, it's always been about expressing my inner workings; how I think and how I process. Thinking about this has made me realise that what fascinates me most is looking at a piece afterwards and realising that oh - this piece is about the fight within me between structure and chaos; so an improvised stitching piece which became so very geometrical even though it started as chaos, suddenly has a meaning for me! I'll be thinking about this further

it takes some time to figure out what you're interested in. It helps to go back and see what you've done a few months or years ago, as then you're less emotional and can be more critical about your own work. it's a journey, so always remember to enjoy it 😊

🪴 I've been a writer my whole life and I've been "doing art" for about...6 months. It's been very fun to experiment with mediums and I've learned very quickly what works for me. I have bad hands (tendinitis and carpal tunnel in both arms), so being precise is not something I can physically achieve. My art style reflects that, and I use forgiving mediums so I can produce things I like looking at instead of frustrating myself.

Me too 💝 I was on a path to become a mature artist when I had a major car accident. I am learning to adjust to my changed capacity. Pacing is really challenging to learn. My neck injury causes me many symptoms. I’m changing my environment(raising benches etc) and changing my attitude(kindness to self and pacing) Keep going and know that you are not alone. I love that you are choosing to work with your challenges instead of ‘’frustrating yourself’’ 🌷🌷🌷

Je me suis mise beau la pression pour réussir à apprendre, c’est-à-dire à dire les bases du dessin, aquarelle et perspective que je n’avais jamais apprise… J’avais pensé à vendre des impressions d’illustrations etc. Comme suggéré par mes proches. Moralité, blocage qui dure depuis quelques années : plus d’idées et même en suivant des challenges, rien à faire. Donc merci, ta vidéo me fait bien cogiter là. Alors pour le blocage: j'en ai eu un à un moment qui a duré quelques mois et mon "truc", c'est de ne pas juger mes idées avant de les faire. J'ai une idée, je fais une esquisse (ou pas d'ailleurs) et je la réalise. Uniquement après réalisation je m'arrête pour voir si c'était bien/nul/à creuser. Il faut dédramatiser la création en gros. Rater et faire des trucs qu'on n'aime pas, ça fait partie du jeu. Bon courage! 👍

I’m a portrait artist and my theme is expression of emotions and bodily sensations, I do a lot of fan art within that theme and I also draw furry art and anthro animal characters

"plant emoji". Thanks for the answer. I was surprised to see my name when I turned on this video :) I guess I am that artist who does not like to be put in a box. I do have 2 websites. Then I think I could have them bilingual, but it's simply too much work for one person (besides having kids and a household to care for every day). PS. I don't like Picasso either. I have a class where I teach kids how to paint like him without looking at the paper and without lifting the pen.

bilingual is too much work indeed. I used to have a bilingual (trilingual in fact) website but that was nuts. Now I only have certain portions of my website bilingual (my bio and art statement) There's always the option of showing only half of what you do online. I never show my abstract pieces/doodles for instance :)
