One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever heard is this: if you don’t think you’ll can hit the note... you can’t. If you believe you can hit the note easily, usually you will! It helped me out a lot as a alto subbing in for the lack of sopranos! I increased my range just by believing that could. A lot of it is feeling like you don’t need to be tense to get that note!

Freya, how do we know we're not forcing our voice? I've heard and read a bad belting technique can cause nodules, so how do I learn to belt without harming o hurting my voice?

Train your chest voice first, make it stronger, then you can make your mix more " chesty", belting could be done in two way, some couch prefer doing in in mixed voice, some prefer doing it in the chest belting way( in the healthy method, keep your throat relaxed, very important) but no matter what, you have to switch and shift your voice into different register, and it requires strong core muscle and stable fluently air. I used to be a singer only use my head voice all the way , and always sounds like an opera singer, but keep training all your muscles, you will get there

Really enjoyed your advice, struggled for years trying to get higher with my low voice, started trying your method (shouting) and trying talking louder, I'm getting there. one song I have struggled with after trying your method I could actually get from low straight up to a higher note in the song, completely surprised. Now I need to practice your method much much more. Thank you.

Hello, Freya! Thank you for all of the amazing videos you make and for helping us so much! I learn so much from you. I have a suggestion for your next video: I'd like to ask you about natural limit of our voice. How to know when exactly we should stop pushing lower and higher in trying to expand our range? Should we stop when we try really hard to sing lower or higher tone for too long time and it just doesn't sound good in our voice? Thank you! :)

I am not sure if I am contralto or mezzosoprano or is it that all totally self taught but it kind of depends how long I have warmed up my voice what it ends up sounding like. In my latest recording - Shania Twain's From This Moment on- you can hear me go "let's do a thinner voice up here" and then I use more force again. I would love you take on this? For me singing is a very mental thing and since this song is super emotional for me it is a bit bad example.
