@gillesmurguet2743

Hello, normally your draw length does not change. It is your movement that changes, the further you draw the more you raise the bow arm but you do not lower the string arm as much, the two arms are no longer in the same alignment, which is normally not the right method. Normally the T posture must be kept, so the same draw length... This is my coach's way of seeing it and I have to say it works, so no change in reach and clicker position.

I don't move my clicker for different distances. After this video, I think I'm underdrawn, I'll go and check my clicker position again and also do that thing which you said. Besides I'm struggling with my anchor. Recently I'm touching the arrow with my index finger and it really hurts my finger. I've tried many things like squeezing the finger spacer before placing my fingers on the string or tried to place my finger upwards. I read the related part in coach Lee's book as well. And I noticed one day is happening the other day is not. I want to ask you coach, what's wrong about my index finger :)
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
It is hard to say without seeing it, but if those techniques didn't work, it could be because your finger strength is not good enough and you are sliding too much. It could also be because of the tab shape/leather cut away. But see about your finger strength first. Here are some exercises to consider regarding finger strength: www.onlinearcheryacademy.com/importance-grip-strength-recurve-archery-2/

@@OnlineArcheryAcademy Definitely it can be related to finger strength. Many times I felt like the string is sliding while I'm anchoring. I just read the link you shared. It's really helpful, I'll do that drills. Thank you so much :)

A question: do you think a longer drawlength will give a higher arrowspeed for the same boweight (on the fingers)?
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
That's a good question! I don't know is the honest answer, but if I had to make a guess I'd say a longer draw length would have a higher arrow speed providing everything else is the same.

@@OnlineArcheryAcademy Basic physics says you're correct. Energy available to accelerate the arrow+string+limbs is the integral of force-of-draw over draw distance (or, if you prefer geometry, the area under the curve of draw weight plotted against draw distance). Adding an increment to that draw distance will increase the energy, and that will almost always increase the kinetic energy of the arrow as it leaves the bow. With arrow mass unchanged, that means more velocity.

You won't need a clicker yet in that case :) I'd definitely suggest registering at the soonest beginners course if you're new to the sport and haven't shot before, as there are a few safety aspects that are really important to make sure you shoot safely. In terms of finding draw length, this exercise is something good to begin with. www.esdf.org/draw-length I know joining a course at a club is unlikely with current restrictions though. I've recently also made a comprehensive beginners course on my website. courses.onlinearcheryacademy.com That might be a good starting point for you, and then when clubs reopen I would suggest taking an in-person course too :)

I move the clicker because I use diferent lenght arrows from 18m to 70m. Sometimes I move the clicker with the same arrows/distance. Usually that hapens in more cold or hot days. Any comment?
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
Ideally you shouldn’t have to change based on temperature - I would make sure you’re properly warmed up each day. The colder it is the more thoroughly you need to warm up beforehand. When it’s a hot day you might need only a small amount of jogging, but when it’s really cold you might need as much as 10min before you then do the rest of your warm up :)

Looking like I'm overdrawing while underdrawing is exactly what I've been having issues with this season, especially as I don't like shooting the lower spots at 18m because my position feels really unstable and forced. I noticed that I couldn't expand nicely because my right elbow didn't come around enough and I was using my biceps to force the clicker. Lots of clicker play and concentration later I'm finally able to get to a proper full draw again and expand nicely through the clicker if I don't let my bow shoulder come up. Sidenote: I'm definitely still somewhat overbowed but I'm working on it.

Thank you very much, I will pay more attention to this, besides, I didn’t know that at different distances, due to the angle, the tension can change to me, my trainer says that what you do at 3 meters is ideal, but you have to transfer everything to a distance (60 meters) which, unfortunately doesn't come out very well

I'm enjoying your videos, thank you!

Sounds great! Glad the videos are helpful :) try thinking about locating the draw hand against the neck, rather than up to the jaw, it can help get a better anchor position and prevent moving the head as you come to anchor :)
@gravTrox
@gravTrox 3 жыл бұрын
There are several ways to approach this, but from the descriptions you make, back arch at end, hard getting hand to anchor/jaw suggest to me that you might be overdrawn that is to say drawing too much weight for your conditioning and experience. Are you involved in a strength training program? Strength and flexibility training are foundational to athletic success. I'm not a pro. I simply speak from a life of experience. I am a 74 year old lifelong athlete currently invested in indoor rock climbing and archery. They'll probably be my principal involvements to the grave. I have been shooting with a purpose these past 10 months applying the understanding I gained over the first two years and it's working. I recently reached a 900 round scoring average that was the goal I set to justify getting a well-engineered bow as compared to the off-the-shelf I've been shooting. Have you met the 11 steps of the shot process? If you have, cool, there's your framework. If you haven't, you must. Now to KZbin to find coaches who present that process in a manner that makes sense to you as you understand it presently. Now shoot some arrows! Have fun! There are prodigies but for most of us it takes consistent application.

You say the angle changes based on what distance you shoot. But by right, shouldnt there be no change in draw length? Where are we pivoting, at the hip or at the shoulder?
@RAD1957224
@RAD1957224 4 жыл бұрын
With target I would say that we tend to tilt at the shoulder but in field we tend to use the T draw and tilt from the hips as the variation is often far greater.
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
So for target most of the angle change should be from moving the arm, as the angle isn't too large and it allows better posture and to keep the feeling of the technique. But as Roger says, in field it's more necessary :)

@meazy451 Last call, because I don't want to waste time with someone, trust me, that again does not understand, or don't want to understand. WA rules divides archers by age, cadet (women, men) up to age 17 , junior ( womem, men) up to age 20 , seniors (women, men), and masters or veterans (women, man) aged 50 or more. So, I am a master or veteran archer shooting 60 meters in my country outdoor championship, and shooting 18 meters in the indoor championship. Again, for any reason, I never thought of moving the clicker when changing from 18 meters shooting to 60 meters shooting. If this is such a big issue for you, so be it.
