This might be weird, but I am my fantasy self. I dress up every day, I wear very extravagant outfits. I put a lot of thought into my clothing and I get a lot of compliments. This isn’t to toot my own horn because that style that I wear every single day (that takes not a lot of effort because I do it so much) doesn’t match with my lifestyle. This style comes from having postpartum depression with my first child, and knowing that putting effort into how I looked every day made me feel better. Now that I have three children, this style is very high maintenance and I’ve noticed that it stops me from doing some of the things that I want to do with my kids. I don’t have the option to decide to go to a park because I’m not dressed for it. I don’t have the option to play on the playground or get my son when he climbs too high because I’m not dressed for it. Sometimes killing your fantasy self means buying a whole new wardrobe and it will take a lot of time for me to curate some thing that actually works for my lifestyle. I feel like this is an uncommon problem but maybe someone else understands that their fantasy self doesn’t really work but in an entirely different way thank you for sharing your thoughts on your personal style and how to get personal style. I’ve always had a very strong sense of self and very strong personal style but it wasn’t until recently that I noticed that I have put myself up so high in fantasy That I no longer can live a life that’s joyful. I’m just thankful I really love Thrifting and I can start this journey, more sustainably, and with more thought towards conscious consumption.

This is by far, my favorite personal style video I’ve ever watched. Very relatable for me and I totally agree about how your clothes “make you feel”. I’m 100% comfort above all else lol. Great video! Subscribing!

This was such a refreshing take on ‘finding personal style’. I watch a lot of this topic videos and you just really gave more ‘real life’ and truly helpful points. I think debunking so many of the cliche ‘ways to find your personal style’ typical points is what I found most helpful. And then just the ‘reality’ of your advice or encouragement saying you actually already probably know it…and it’s about how I feel more than anything else. Wow! Wow! Wow! Thank you so much! I felt like I was sitting down with my best friend and she was giving me real, frank, help and advice that I really needed to hear. The encouragement that it’s not all about the ‘outside’ stuff…not to sound too out there, but it’s more about what’s ’inside’ me…to have you give the encouragement that I really do know what I like and what works best for me and what I FEEL MY BEST IN. Thank you…❤

This was actually such a mind blowing and educational video on fashion that I have seen in years!! Everything you said made total sense to me! I’ve been into fashion as far as can remember and I’m in my 30s trying to wear what makes me happy but not necessarily meets the standards here in Japan where everyone is all dressed in the same way that I even get stared at sometimes lol Your video has given me so much courage to just keep going with my own style that I’ve already discovered and loved no matter what people think of me! I love your style and energy by the way! More people need to watch this!

I think it’s really about exploring and finding clothing you feel good in. I feel good in girly dresses but I also feel good in black jeans and a tshirt being casual. You already know your style 🤯 Thank you for saying that. Sometimes clothing feels like it comes with alot of preasure when in fact it doesn’t and should be a comfort thing above anything else.

From a male perspective I couldn’t agree more! Most men I know through work or friendships struggle with this topic as well. We just don’t come clean because we’re men. While I push back with my wife’s advise around clothing I almost (9/10) times side with her and thank goodness or I’d be “that mid 50’s guy stuck on the set of your favorite 90’s sitcom! I truly appreciate your honesty and genuine “own who you are” attitude! It’s inspiring!

I bought nearly 40 feminin Sezane Cardigans because they look so good and girly on the models. Now I understand that I am a minimal girl, loving many colours but no patterns and the cardigans make me look fat 😂. I need clear lines and noch oversizes😂

Thank you❤ i recently read a book on fantasy self so i get it. So it was so easy for me to translate that into clothes. I realized that what i bought & what i liked i didn't wear. You explained it that it's ok to like but not buy a thing fantasticly. Also the colour thing you nailed it. My colours they did were so wrong for me but i redid my closet in colour blicked them & i realised after i cleaned out the things that had blocked me & those that didn't feel righ that I had solved how you said colours etc should feel on you . Brilliant 💕 i learnt 2 new things from you (about your version of colours & your use of comfortable) & you confirmed the rest to me. You are better than you think. Quitting r job & doin utube you will be great.
