A lot of this is still confusing so I came up with a visual metaphor which I hope is useful/accurate? Dominant function = duck in water (natural element, most common association) Opposing function = duck on land (not as natural, kinda awkward) Auxiliary functions = duck in air (mostly a means of getting from point A to point B) If it's no good, let me know! There might be (and probably is) something I'm misunderstanding.

I went into this with an open mind and ready to discard whatever conclusions I had made about myself. I forced myself to investigate every sentence you say without associating it with a specific type. I agreed maybe 50% with some of the descriptions but when you got to TeSe oppositional stack I got blown by how accurately it describes my experience. Memories as examples popping up into my mind as you speak. I know that INTJ is a rare type and often mistyped, which is why I went through this 3-part series to put it under great scrutiny. However, I survived this identity crisis and can now move forward with applying all of this knowledge to help others understand themselves better. Same, but ENTP here. I test for INTP most often, but ENTP always seemed to fit better. Let's just say the ENTP functions are creepily familiar, but I have the same detachment towards the INTP description as the other types. Still not convinced that's not a manifestation of internal bias, though. 😂

As an INTP I do enjoy observing people. My favorite job was working at a movie theatre where I watched large crowds interact. I also like observing people at airports. Maybe that is why I am so into personality typology as I like watching people's behaviors. As did Carl Jung, shown by CSJ to also be an INTP.

I discovered the personality types about a year ago, and for most of that time I assumed I was an INFJ as the 16 personalities test said. However, as I learned more about it and about the cognitive functions, I began to question whether or not my type was accurate. All of the function’s descriptions had characteristics that applied to me so I was completely lost as to what type I was. I’ve been confused and anxious for a few weeks now, not being able to figure out my type. Thankfully, I recently discovered your videos and they have really helped me hone in on what type I am. I’ve finally got it narrowed down to 4 possible types: ENTP, INFJ, ENFJ, or INTP. I would really just like to thank you for your videos. They’ve genuinely helped me narrow it down and feel less confused. From here on out I’ll just try to hone in more to find my true type. Thank you.

@@averagejoe8280 so you consider yourself overprotective of the social atmosphere, to the point of categorizing the social circles you belong to in order to avoid the disturbances that could exist by bringing them together? Do you feel intensely uncomfortable when your social dynamics go into crisis? Do you hold a highly scientific and probabilistic view of reality? Are you aware that your individuality is highly encoded? (scientist is not scientific, remember) I believe that the personality observed by the CPT is manifested externally. If these behaviors don't manifest in your reality, then they probably don't belong to you, and it could be that you are being victimized by the famous effect there. I don't know if I got it right, but I believe this is the dynamics of INFJ. I consider myself to have a high probability of being an ENTJ, and this is because I manifest most of the characteristics of an ENTJ in my reality without even having control If you have empirical examples that you are INFJ, then you can say yes, you are but without examples, I believe that any statements are worthless

Am I an INTP if I, from time to time, come back to your videos just to verify I’m not any other type than INTP? Like, I can’t resist the question of “what if there’s sth I’m missing? What if I’m an ISFJ or ENFP or ENTJ or INFJ or even ESTP?” I also love reflecting upon my experiences and figuring out why, for example, I enjoy my work at one company more than another, and then adding that reflection to my own list of criteria. I like to be able to explain to people why I choose what I choose, why I believe in what I believe, for example my career choice, my religion, my partner choice, although I’m not 100% certain myself due to possible alternative way of reasoning. I’m extremely careful and detailed in every decision making step of a software project, or pretty much anything in my life. If a person gives me enough convincing reason to change my mind, I will definitely consider the possibility, tinker with the new idea for a while, find ways to verify it based on my experience, and if everything checks, I’ll completely change my mind, and even be thankful for the person who gave me new insights. Since young, I’ve loved observing people to understand why they say or act the way they do. I used to have difficulty connecting with people early in my life, but I’ve gained more experience and practice now. I’m now also pretty good at tapping into people’s emotions, particularly when watching movies. I can imagine myself being in their situation and that can even bring me tears sometimes. I used to be very judgmental of people, but as I understand more now about typology, I am much more sympathetic. Whenever I learned sth new, I’d love to share it with my closed circle, or with someone who I think is helpful for them, to help them out of a situation or realize the truth. A lot of things you said about INTP I can relate, but a few things don’t. For example, I’m not really a creature of habits. I tried to do certain things at certain times, but those do not last long if there’s no deadline or pressure. I also don’t usually think about “definitions” of things, but more about “why” and “how”. If the definitions help me understand the “why” and “how”, then I’m all for it. I’m good with language and explaining things to people, but I don’t know if I’m good with precise language, since oftentimes I will forget a term and try to find another way to say it.

These videos confuse me because of how you word them. It’s not your fault but it feels like I would understand these videos way better if you provided real world examples of how those cognitive functions would come to fruition in a persons actions. For example if you said something along the lines of “and because of this ISTJ’s would get mad at something like a person half assing the repair of a clock”. If you said something like that then I would be able to understand these videos way better and I wouldn’t have to cling on to every word you say hoping that the next sentence will make it all make sense.

providing examples could be useful but that would mean people being more susceptible to typing based on situational things and not their/someone’s actual identity and way of functioning. irl examples would apply to multiple types more often than just one, and cause unreasonable doubt or consideration because “this type does x so i must be that”. think of how you and your friends/family can be in sync with things very often and behave similarly yet the means of getting to that state is far different for each person in question.

Video 3: Cross out those which are not me I'm extremely goal-oriented, not afraid to voice my opinions, and value individualism. I'm quite certain of my values and interests. Does that sound like an ENTJ?

You mentioned Fe authority in an INFJ being hypersensitive to the specific one on one scenarios and preferring to possibly keep certain social circles separate from one another. Could this manifest as an INFJ attempting to keep certain individuals from interacting for fear of possible conflict, perceiving the possibility that these two individuals would likely have an unfavorable engagement?

And yes, I coincidentally found my type pretty early on, but I still had to make sure that it was _really_ my type since we all have eight of the functions, we're all going to relate to each description in some way. Each time I doubt myself I'm like "Well I definitely *don't* have the Se-Ni axis and I (probably???) don't have the Fi-Te" so then I only have four choices and it's pretty easy to tell what prioritizes what from there. Is it possible that the Ni authority could also manifest as a deep need to understand the world (or a discipline of knowledge) by generating deep (and possibly unwavering) patterns in order to internalize one's understandings in a symbolic manner? Also, if the above is a true manifestation of an Ni authority, could Se be used to execute this authority by doing a lot of raw data collecting from the outer environment as creating a 'fuel' by which the Ni authority can adequately generate the above patterns within their mind?

Great video, Harry! This was better than the first two parts. I greatly enjoyed it. However, I’m still wondering about Ne vs Se auxiliary in other people. So one of my siblings is sat on a couch using their phone, I walk up to them and call their name, but the sibling doesn’t answer. As if they don’t ever hear me. So I have to like touch them twice until they can finally hear me and shift their focus from the phone, to me. **Is this Ne or Se?** It can’t be Se, because you said that Se is good with their surroundings and being in the present moment. But it also doesn’t sit right to be Ne, because you said that an Se user can be very absorbed in activities. Wouldn’t that mean that they would forget their surroundings as well?
@CognitivePersonality4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, this phenomena goes both ways :) Locking on to a task to become oblivious factors can be either Se or an automated external dialogue alongside introverted consciousness. Generally introverted types are more likely to do both of these, regardless of their primary lens. An ISFP would tend to be closer to the former, and an INFP closer to the latter!
@Anonymei4 жыл бұрын
Cognitive Personality Theory Oh, I see. I think I’m an ISFP, because I loved your description of self-transformation. But Se didn’t sit right for a long time, until I finally figured it out. Also, an interesting thing I noticed is that, with my daydreaming, I usually just picture something occupying the same space as me, rather than daydreaming about myself occupying a completely different space. I think an ISFP does the former, and INFPs do the latter. Maybe.
