I had to do a public records request for my property. It only costs $0.10 per sheet for plans. It’ll probably take longer but a heck of a lot cheaper than paying local septic guy to come flush some detectable fluid down my john. Still, your video was helpful and I appreciate it 👍

I tried the Online RME and it wouldn't give me any info. Went to the second site and I was able to find everything but the page with the septic tank location(s). I'm trying to find a second one of my property. I was told there was one by neighbors. I should be able to use a metal detector to find it. Great video!

Depending on the county you live in, the drawings or maps themselves can be in very similar yet not the exact location shown in the video. I suggest clicking around as well and I'm sure you'll find it hidden close.

Dido, search says public records for state and county are not allowed at this time. It may be that I live in rural western Kentucky 4 miles outside the city limits and the house is 48 years old.

I did the online RME and it told me any search in my state or county is not available. So I did my local assessor and found information about my property, but no information about my septic system.

Depending on the county, you have to dig around for it. Sometimes the records are too old and option 3 is the only way.

My problem is there is no septic permit on file the home was built in 1980

@@BillieChristine-d5c even if it's not permitted there will often be drawings made by septic inspectors, assuming it's been inspected. If all else fails, option 3 is for everyone to point you in the right direction. Thanks for watching.

The issue is not so much finding the tank, but where the lid is.

Once you find the tank, finding the lid is easy. It's at worst 12-24 inches from any point on the top of the tank.

@@MrJohnnyblazed good luck! I bought a cheap camera on Amazon you can use to scope your line to see how far it goes. I then mark it and see how far it goes to tell you exactly where to dig if it's under concrete. IMO it'd be worth the $350 to make sure you're digging in the right spot, save a lot of time.
