Another good tip: don’t try to force yourself into one specific style! So many people get hung up on looking “preppy” or “goth” or “punk” when in reality your personal style will probably be a mish-mash of aesthetics! Don’t be afraid to come up with an aesthetic wholly unique to you.

I fall into this trap so much. I like being clear and explaining things well so to have a style that’s undefinable is hard and doesn’t provide me with much guidance as to whether I’m doing it right or wrong. Plus I’m never sure whether I like something because I actually like it or because it’s popular or because the people wearing it appear happy and I want to be like them or blah blah blah. I guess I just need to stop thinking about how I appear to other people and just think about what I want for a change 😅

Hi @ReyBeltane, if you're not already familiar with Kibbe body typing or Body Geometry, I would highly recommend checking out "Merriam Style" on KZbin to figure out your body type, and learn how to adapt different looks to make them work for you. Personally, it has helped me out immensely! The best part is that it goes waaay beyond "pear shape" "hourglass", etc, and analyses your bone structure (meaning that your body type won't change with weight!) to tell you what will complement the lines of your body. For reference, StealTheSpotlight is very likely to have a Mixed/Gamine body type, which basically means that she looks best in outfits that contain a mix of opposites (short vs long, heavy vs light/sheer, lots of detail vs minimal, etc).

I just need to say. My folder is called Thrifting ideas and it helps so much knowing it’s not restricted. Also love that Fran from The nanny was shown. She’s a queen of fashion.

FINALLY someone talking about the weather factor!! we sometimes get so excited about a aesthetic and forget it might not be suitable for where you live. i mean, i LOVE sweaters and jeans but i live in a hot city...... i gotta be realistic.

Thank you so much for this!! I feel like I have so many clothes that aren't really me? Plus, I like my taste in fashion more than what I actually put on my body 😅😅 I've been trying to think of a way to fix that disconnect... (So basically this was a Godsend lol 🙏🙏)

I don't have issues with knowing what type of clothes or styles I like but am I watching anyways? absolutely. honestly my style is a mix of a bunch of different styles, kinda just depends on my mood. my dream is to have a huge closet and a ton of options someday

recently I've found my style and have been beginning to build my wardrobe. the only way I can describe it is "sailor moon got lost in a swamp and joined a satanic club"

that almost sounds like some 80's grunge. you can totally look it up on Pinterest and ask anyone that was near the 80's what it was like. The 80's was not all neons at all.

The signature pieces part is really true. People now associate me with hats, especially berets because I think they add so much to an outfit! Also it's really important what you said about time, it really takes time to build a new closet, personally it has taken me like 5 years to build a k-fashion harajuku esque? style.

I don't know who you are. But I love you already. You are the closest person I've ever seen with a style like mine and I'm here for it.

I loved this, I think I realised I've been trying to categorise "my style" a bit too much so that I have felt like I need to be one thing or the other instead of just you know.. Combining them.. Into my own style. So that makes a lot of sense, thanks for the video!

Finally someone talked about changing style based on the people that you were going to see!!!! I am always being worried about dressing to much when I am going to see my friends. They usually dressed in a more casual way while I always love to dress up. Also thanks for the advice, it’s very useful! 😆

This video was so informative and well structured! Your style encapsulates a lot of different style elements but I think it would be fun to see indie, clowncore, skater, dark academia, or an ariana grande inspired one :-)

i personally LOVE neutral colors and a classic, chic/elegant look. very minimalistic. i want to introduce more colours in my dresser. i only have blues and then beige, brown, tan, white, and black. i also want to branch out into some other styles. the area i live in is pretty hot and winter is basically around 40 degrees (fahrenheit)
