You are my soul mate Wendy, every word you are saying it's as if I was telling it to my friend... I' m " so old school too! The thing is - our generation is nit completely lost yet, the problem is that people in their 40ties, 30ties and younger are completely hooked and depended on technology now, and they have lost all the critical thinking ... They are being steered into full slavery and dont even see it. and they happily go along with whatever the system tells them to use, to do , to follow ... 🐑🐑🐑

Wendy. It's very hard to be out there in society and connect with people the way i did in the late 70's, 80's and 90's. I find that ever since the lockdowns, people have changed even more. It's even more about "me, me, me" than any time in the past. The more I see people in society, the more I want to connect with my dog and nature. BTW, I also decided not to have children a long time ago. I have been called selfish and self-centered and a disappointment because I didn't provide children to a relative. Glad that time has passed, and I am older now and the ovaries are well past their procreating date. Peace to you Wendy.

Thank you for this. I'm a woman in my early 50s. No kids, and sometimes people want me to justify it. It's ridiculous. I also have been in the same career for 25 years and feel burned out with it. Would love to do something different the next 15 years or more, but it is so scary to change and possibly lose some benefits. But also don't want to die in my current job. When you mentioned about being in a store and seeing a child watching something on a phone to keep them happy. I feel as I am sure you do that so many times today in Society parents many times seem to not want to see their kids unhappy or say fussing about something. Yet in realty life is not always fair and we do not always feel happy every day. If Kids do not learn how to deal with their emotions and process that then they grow up where they have melt downs at the drop of a hat over things so simple. children need to be able to use their imagination and at times they need to just be kids and realize there may be days they feel bored and they have to figure out things to do that does need mean them being kept to feel happy all the time. I am 55 and I and my husband grew up spending a lot of time playing outside with our friends. We remember the days of only landlines to talk or face to face or writing letters. Now people have cell phones and internet computer etc and you still do not hear from them. They have the easiness at their fingertips of communitcating faster but you do not hear from them. Also like you said so many people do not know how to communicate face to face because they do everything behind a computer screen or phone through text and it is a issue.

I did a 30 day health challenge in 2010 that involved no alcohol. I didn’t realize until I stopped for that 30 days how poorly alcohol made me feel. I tried to have a few drinks a few times after the challenge and decided ultimately that it was not for me anymore. I did struggle a little with that decision but I’ve been sober now for 13 years. Best decision I’ve made in a very long time. I’m 54 now. You got this!

Wendy, Merry Christmas from British Columbia, Canada. You got me thinking about some New Year’s resolutions. I agree people are glued to social media. I had someone I had not seen for a long while drop to visit me at the office and he was carrying on a conversation with me asking me many questions about my life and the same time texting on his phone to someone. It was a little off putting and it left me questioning this person’s sincerity. Was is too much to expect the phone be put out away during the visit? Just passing the time I figured, no big deal to this Gen-Xer. Living together in peace requires more understanding to bridge the gap.

I’m 60 and we didn’t have kids because we couldn’t. Would have had them if we could. But, my mom always said don’t go looking for what God doesn’t naturally give you so I was at peace with it and blessedly my husband of 41 years told me early on I didn’t marry you to be a baby machine. Luckily between the 2 of us we had 9 nieces and nephews we loved like our own kids and it was nice they were in our world. Only 2 of those 9 have had/plan on having kids - one has 1 child, the other 3 children. I wish they would all have kids since all but one of the nine are paired off and they are genuinely sound minded, good kids. I’m not biased, it’s simply true. But, I (nor anyone I know) would ever call them degenerates for not wanting to bring kids into this chaotic world that they are now the young adults in. They’re all quite bright, educated (however, I’ve never confused a degree with intelligence), with good lives on track with good jobs, but they actually see the world much clearer than we did 30-40 years ago. I think that’s why, all in their late 20s to mid 30s, most of them do not want to bring children into the world which is sad because they are the very people that should be procreating. But, like my mom told me 40 years ago, don’t force what is not naturally happening and for them, it’s natural to not want to bring kids into a chaotic world. Hope your Christmas was peaceful and merry and blessings to you for a Happy New Year!

The idea of a portable telephone was great but unfortunately, it has now become the most important thing in many people's lives. I often see in the company break room, 10 people seated in silence, looking at their phones instead of conversing with each other. This phenomenon may very well contribute to the eventual end of civilization as we know it.........

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!! I, too, am baffled about how many people I know are always on their cell phone with other people. What a shame. When I'm in a restaurant having a meal with people, I always leave my phone in my purse. And thank you for reminding us that only we can be in control of our own actions. My New Year's resolution is to start doing things that I want to do for a change. And also being able to travel while I can, instead of waiting too late. I know so many people close to my age (58) who have passed away. And I don't want to wait too long. Anything can happen to us and it's best to start doing things we want to do before it's too late.

People who work hard can buy a house. My parents bought land in 1970 and put a trailer in it (my mother was 22 and my father was 23), I was borh 2 years later and they built a house was almost done by then, by the time I was born, on the same land. I bought my first house at 27.

I am 53 and I love writing my film reviews, doing my occasional videos, reading books and going for long walks. That and my wife - everything keeps me grounded. The younger generation however is lost, not me. I feel like I am not part of this world but I do my best to stay open and observe. As far as woke, i think that word has been hijacked to mean things that has nothing to do with its origin (turning an adjective into a noun makes no sense to me). What is most disconcerting is attention spans and kids having the feeling of entitlement thanks to their parents. Lastly, haven't lived in Canada for years but I do hear the taxes are very high...yet this country's inflation is too damn high.

I recognize occurrences that appear to surround me as well, and as others do, as well. I believe, (unfortunately) that the politics that we grew up with have really been altered to keep one on edge. Common sense, rational decisions and love are vital, as we age, and proceed forward. Everybody knows what right is and what wrong is. If they don't, maybe they should look it up on social media, but then is it true? It all comes down to choices, and all us subscribers seem to be on the same page, if not, we learn from our mistakes. Damn! , am I full of s**t or what ? leave a reply, I need to find out if I need help. Bye
