How to Finger "C" on the Flute in Every Octave

I love my guzzling key on flute if you think about it, there’s really no difference to how it sounds with or without the gizmo key it’s just decision, wise and money

When I got my first flute in 1976 and my second flute in 1980, which was my first open hole, this wasn’t even an option…. The split E mechanism that is. My problem is I have an Emerson flute had a minor repair recently but they said if anything else goes wrong with it I might not have an option but to get a new one since there are no parts for Emerson anymore.

Happy new year. I really get inspired by your videos. I have recently found an alternative fingering for the C just above the staff (only that one). I have not been able to find it as an alternative fingering when searching online. Can you please try it and see if you agree it could be an alternative? Lh b thumb and right hand d#. I think it can be useful in trilling from Bb to C. Just have to lift and put down the lh index finger :-)

So there is no key to jump from an octave to another ? It's just the blowing speed that allows you that ?

Unfortunately no octave key on the flute. Air speed and, to some extent, direction cause the note to jump up the octave.

i’m double jointed and whenever i try low c it doesn’t come out bc when my pinky reach for the key i’m sub consciously lifting up a finger and it doesn’t cover the holes 😭

For the High C, the Gizmo (B) key helps a B-foot flute to play more like a C-foot. High C usually speaks clearer and easier on C-foot flutes.
