I’ve been using this method on my hair for years, but I pin the curls in place and let them dry. I basically just do the top layer. I find I get more consistent results this way, rather than putting my hopes on my own waves. Janelle-your hair looks great!
@cathismith26243 жыл бұрын
Do you air dry it or diffuse? Also, what do you use to pin the curls?
@jflo20123 жыл бұрын
@@cathismith2624 I usually air dry unless I’m very short on time. I use jumbo bobby pins to pin at the base of the curl. Ideally is to pin curl at night and let curls dry overnight. Since the pin curls are on top the of the head only, they are comfortable for sleeping.

@aprilfoolsbb13 жыл бұрын
How many do u pin and how long does it take u? Have u ever slept that way?
@jflo20123 жыл бұрын
@@aprilfoolsbb1 I pin the top section of my hair and the crown. The number of curls depends on how much hair I put in each, but for the top section mentioned there are usually about 9-10 curls. My hair is shoulder length and it takes about 5 min to pin curl that top section. (I’ve timed it. LOL). PS-yes I’ve slept with it this way. It is comfortable because it’s on the top of my head, so I’m not laying on it.
@rachellep25813 жыл бұрын
This is called barrel curling, you learn how to do this method in hair school/cosmetology school along with pin curls. You can pin barrel curls by standing them upwards and pinning them at the base of your section or in this case curl, for a wet set and lots of corwn volume. They have special little clips for easy removal when dry at Sally's.

My greys and whites have never behaved or curled like my natural hair did. I have been struggling to find the right products and techniques to take care of my silvers. I had no idea how difficult this would be. My silvers are dry, unruly and have a mind of their own. The 2 things I tried today upon watching your videos are: damp styling and this coiling technique. I have a mix of 3C & 4A curls, and although both of the coiling AND the rolling techniques work for me, I don’t like either, because it elongates my curls and I don’t like that. I’m all for the tight coils my hair naturally gravitates to, so I do the flipping thing with my denman brush from the roots to the ends (after detangling of course) 😁

@KG95513 жыл бұрын
I have type 2c-3a hair that is also fine like yours... finger coiling could work for you, but with a slightly different technique... Pull the curl firmly with one (probably your less dominant) hand then with the other start finger coiling with an inch or so between your finger and your scalp. Make sure you direct the end of the curl to wrap around your coil ABOVE the finger doing the coiling, almost like you’re folding it in half. The bottom part of the curl gets caught in the coil above your coiling finger and gets winded in. When the end catches, let it go with your one hand while the other continues coiling down until the very end twists through. Not sure if that made ANY sense 😂, but your hair is curly enough that finger coiling can definitely work well for you!
