How to Finish the Back of your Punch Needle Art

Hi, are Heat and Bond affected after being washed in a washing machine?! Because I'm thinking of finishing the rug project with it!

I just started punch needling and my work turns out beautiful which I am proud of as I didn’t think I could do it and I love doing this but sometimes I do see some pieces pull or push out so would rec gluing the back? Any other tips? Tysm 😊

Can you give some options of glue for the backing (which can be washed )? Its difficult to figure out which glue should be used.

You can wash punch needle without glue. Glue is typically not needed. If you still want to use a glue, the PVA glue I link above will work to be washed.

I’m making a garment with punch needle embroidery and was wondering if I hand wash the garment with the glue will embroidery still stay in tact?

Super late, but I'd look at some kind of permanent fabric glue and follow the instructions on that

My wall art needs backing - our house panther will climb, bite and scratch anything. But we don't want him to eat poisonous glue. So what to do?

House panther...I love it!! Haha! I would suggest whip stitching on a piece of fabric. Leave enough Monks cloth fabric around the edges, sew them loosely together so they lay flat, then whip stitch on a piece of fabric to hide the stitches and the fabric. I didn't find a video for this. Maybe I need to make one! :)

@@ShawnaFosket Well, there are so many of us living with cats. No wonder, considering how wonderful they are. However, when you think you're getting a kitten, but end up getting a panther - you need to adapt the home. But there are not many videos about that. Curtains, rugs, supplies of yarn - it all has to be adapted to a hyperactive toddler with teeth, claws and ability to reach the roof.

Yes you should be able to wash it. Although glue is not needed.

Yes I believe you can. I haven't used it myself but I've seen others use it. It may yellow over time.

I don't understand why you need to seal it. Punch needle is very durable and can be used on garments and washed.

I completely agree. However, it was a trust process for me so I can understand others' hesitancy to lose their art from it falling out. I've had several items stand the test of time so I'm now completely on your side! :)
